Thread: New Swordsman
Well hello to all of you die hard swordsman. I havent seen many of you around and from reading this board I can see why. Alot of problems with the swordsman proffesion.
I cant say I ever truely wanted to be a master swordsman I have always been interested in the proffesion since the one time I saw a master take down a tuskan warlord with no help.
The reason I am here is my lovely holocron has spoken to me. "Swordsman you must master yes"
So my questions what are the major things I need to look out for. I have been a Master Commando since Aug 1 and have really enjoyed that profession. I truely wish to enjoy this one as well and I can keep my commando status. This could be a dream come true a master proffesion to go along with and complement my other. Or my other may complement this one.
If anyone has any helpful hints I would appreciate them. I am on Tempest Server "Koia Aoke" PA ForSaken.
Hello , another junior swordsman here prompted by his holocron.
Must say i'm really enjoying it , especially as i now get to fight alongside my pets rather than just stand 50m away blasting at things.
Get yourself a good 2handed Curved blade. Shoot for a speed of 2.4 - 2.6 witha high damage. I think I'm sporting a 2.2 -2.6 with 300 damage (sliced natch). And melee powerups with action and speed reduction rock. I created a few schematics before I killed my master artisan and it was a great investment.
I'm a big fan of the area attack tree. I can stand in the middle of those hurton females, do a few area attacks (and a lot of heals) and get 18k xp in under a minute.
Head hits are devestating, especially for the schmucks that don't think that they need their mind pools.
Mind Hit 2 (bleeder) is pure evil. Good for duels, soloing, etc.
Powerhammers are peachy, but they're a bit hard to hit with. Eventually your 2handed bonus is high enough that you'll hardly even miss though.
And for God's sake, get some high Kinetic armor. 40% is base, I'm sporting a plus 50% mix of chitin and composite. You'll have to tweak your stats, but it pays off.
Get some healing skills. Not saying you should, but I know a guy who took Doctor for the buffs and he's almost unstoppable (krayt soloing goodness).
As a swordsman you aren't a great PvPer, but in a big fight I learned if you burst around the edges of enemy lines and flank them, you can cause massive damage before you die (took out 3 people before I got a flamethrower enima).
Hola fellow Steel Benders!
I am just new to this profession and was looking for some good advice from the 'old-hatters' as to what line in the class would be most effective to go up first. What attack combos do you find most effective? I just came out of Artisan and into Brawler so any good combat advice would be appreciated. (heh)
Area sites for good novice Swordsman exp would be appreciated too if anyone has any old haunts they would like to reveal. =)
This class is way cool - my favorite from the Brawler classes!
Justmade novice swordsman yesterday, anybody wanna tell me some of theirown tips themselves?
Jall Stizox Novice heavy swordsman
Brawler 3/4/4/2
Scout 4/1/4/2
Medic 2/1/1/2
Swordsman 0/0/0/0
Looking at your stats I would finish out Master Brawler first, get 2H Lunge, Warcry 2 and Inimidate 2 and then proceed up the Swordsman lines. You'll have a much easier time of it and be able to fight bigger mobs
Just armor up, buff up, and get someplace where you can fight many mobs that are vulnerable to kinetic or blast at the same time. Once you get spin attacks get as many mobs on you as you can and wail spin attacks. You'll level fast.

Good advice from Yipiana.
The most efficient method for leveling I've found thus far is to get a high quality suit of armor, get doctor buffed, and pack Muon Gold and Angerian Fishak. (At the very least get65%+ kinetic Ubese. I'm currently packing 75% overall Composite, loving it.)
Load up with a fast sword to use until you get the speed bonuses to use Power Hammers efficiently, run Huurton missions on Dantooine, or some other equally challenging npc type. Take 2 missions in the same general direction, when you get near the mission pop a Muon Gold as you run up on it and unload area attacks against the lair itself. The Muon Gold will counteract the amount of mind used for special attacks and allow you to use it for a very long time. After the first lair I usual consume an Angerian Fishak, this is a measure of protection against the Muon Gold going away in the middle of the second lair leaving you with only 1 mind. Polish off the second lair, then the negative effects from the spice typically goes away while you're getting the next two missions.
The XP really does fly like this. Personally I've been traveling around the Galaxy collecting location badges, killing anything of interest on the way. It's less credits, and a little more time consuming, but I find it more enjoyable.
I've heard of a bug concerning the Area Effect attacks... as I understood, it doesn't apply to the Spin attacks. Can this be used to get xp faster?
Thanks in advance.
