Thread: In the Age of Holo Squad Leaders I charge large for training.

I charge 5k per skill and to some imperals I charge more.

This might be unfair or whatever but I don't need apprentice points becuase I am not going to play the dumb holo game and I do not have any skills to make money other than run missions.

Also since this people are just skipping into squad leader getting master in a matter of hours and then dropping it adding nothing to the community they should pay something.

So I set the price at 5k per box on planets like Darthomir or other far off worlds.

So I ask should I set the price at the same as I got it from the NPC trainer on Talus. (not counting the travel time).

Lower the price of training or not charge at all?

I pay vendors for SL training, anyway... and for Pike training, since I can't find players with either set of skills on Lowca.

Players shouldn't charge for training, IMHO. You may not need the apprenticeship XP, but you're helping out another player, and in a community as small as SL, you really should be trying to foster respect among other SLs, not driving them away because they may or may not be grinders.

That said.. do whatever you want. I'll never charge for training, either for Pikeman or SL.Both communities are too small to piss off prospective members...

Im working to be a Master Ranger/Master Squad Leader and I find it incredible hard to find training. I am not doing it because of a holo, but because it fits my character. Also I would rather try something a little different than be the umtenth CH, BH, or TKA. But as I said I find it so rare to actually find a SL, that even if its a holo one Im gratefull to be able to recieve some training.

I think that was FWH_James' point, Daros.. The grinders aren't part of the SL community, any more than someone passing through my town is a citizen. I personally don't charge foranytraining I do, but I can certainly understand why you would..

I am not heartless.

You can almost always tell the Holo grinders from real Squad Leaders. The Holo grinders seem to be a little more pushy and Also and offend DEMAIN training.

So I say 5k or go hit Daeric or Bestine (there is one more trainer I think but I forget where it is)

Yeah, I was dropping my skills right as the hologrinders came into full swing. I would always get tells from players asking for training, but I could tell the holos from the dedicated. If I congratulated them on their progress and they didnt say thankyou or anything at all except "where are you at?" then I knew they were grinding.

Oh well. I never charged.

I never charge for training either, but I wouldn't think ill of anyone that charged large amounts to holo grinders. Most of em can afford it they have lots of money and (apparently) no time to waste so that sounds like a winning combo to me!

I'm grinding out SL for a holocron profeesion. Sir you play right into my hands. You see, when holo-grinding you need lots of AP so if you don't train newbies and other grinders I'm more than happy to do it for free and with some words of encouragement.

Thanks!

Or, maybe, some of those hologrinders will be impressed by your attitude and decide to stick with it...

Not saying all, but some... just a thought.

Well I get nothing out of the deal but some body /tell me asking for training normally while i am leading a group in battle. And they HAVE TO HAVE skill xxx they are maxed and cannot find a trainer.

As for them staying squad leader. Very few of them would because they are self-centered to the max for the most part. (a generalization) And squad leader does not lent itself to that type much

Charging is fine. It's their choice whether or not to pay.

On the whole holo grinder thing. After playing the game since launch, I finally opened my first holo last night. I'm bored with swordsman (maxed everything a long while ago) and thought I'd use it to nudge me in a different direction. Guess what? Yep. Squad Leader.

I have to admit, I'd never paid the slightest attention to it. But I think I may go for it. I wanted to move back into the marksman tree (maybe ultimately rifleman) and this gives me a push in that direction. I can't promise I'll keep it when/if I choose to master it. But I can promise I'll be polite and respectful about the profession.

As a side note: I was a 2handed swordsman from the very beginning. For the longest time we were an ultra rare breed. Then the holo grinders came along. Some are the busy, pushy, in your face "come back to town right now and train me" type. Many are actually very nice. I think out of all the training I've done only one person has ever tipped me (I always tip at least 2k). However, I've also had some good conversations with people, including a number of them who started out on the holo path and put it on hold because it was just so much fun (it is).

Do whatever you want....charge or not, it's up to you.

I fail to seewhatholo-SL's have done to generate the bad will you apparently feel toward them. They grind, they leave...maybe a few like it and stay. They pay their $15 dollars just like you do so let them play the way they like.

I suspect you would have been unhappyif, during your time as novice SL, people in your grouped asked you for payment since you were generating SL xp off them.
