Thread: In the Age of Holo Squad Leaders I charge large for training.

Ok, flame up if you want--I won't check this post again. But I don't understand the problem with holo grinders. I have two accounts. One is a pre-inv patch bounty hunter. The other is for my holo grinding soon-to-be jedi character. My last holo is squad leader. I came here for help. Instead I find a profession just as bugged as bounty hunter. In my earlier readings in this forum I found comfort knowing that bh isn't the only totally screwed up profession. I can also feel the pain that sl's are going through being ignored patch, after patch, after patch, after... Then I read this post. Someone who wants to charge for training? And just because another person is in hopes of one day having a jedi character? It almost sickens me. We should be together against SWG and the devs. Not divided.

If sum1 asks me for SL training i ask them if they are holoing it, flat out. If they say yes i refuse to train them. I dont believe the holo grinding system was the true way to get peopel ont he path to jedi and think its the most ridiculous idea ever conceived by the devs.

So you are not training holo-grinders because you disagree with the way Dev's have set up attaining FSCS? Not sure I follow the logic of that.

It may be rediculous but as it stands it is the current way and as i see it, its prettyfair. So not training hologrinders is just plain stupid..

Don't blame players for the developments mistakes. They made the system so that we must master some stupid professions, like squad leader, to accomplish the ultimate goal for some of us. If you don't train for free, there will 2 more guys willing to train for free for the AP.

Yeah good luck finding the other two master squad leaders on Lowca.

(there are more but you will have a hard time finding them.)

I try to give trainee's an option.

Pay for training, or try to pass my SL Promotion Exam. I join their group and watch them lead, see how they control their formations and combat. Then I usually tell them to stick a /rally, etc. I figure if they're willing to jump through my hoops, then they deserve the training It's a fun bit of RP to add to the mix If they aren't, then odds are they're a holo-grinder, and a good chance for me to recoup some lost cash.

I paid out the nose for every single SL skill at the trainer in Bestine when I only had 200k to my name, so it only makes sense to have others pay.

OK, I lied. I did come back. Up early, and servers are down. Charge for training if you like. I leveled up so darn quick that I didn't have the time to find a player squad leader. I went from 0-0-0-0 squad leader to master in less than four hours! You wonder why people don't want to be squad leader? Where is the challenge? Plus, how difficult is it really to sit back and press keys to form up, rally, or steady aim. Get pissed at holo grinders. It is not our fault the devs set up the path to jedi this way. I personally can't wait for the jedi changes.

As someone who will likely be grinding out squad leader this evening, I have no problem paying a master to come along and train me on the fly. I have, in fact, contracted one of Tempest's better-known SLs to do this very thing for me, and he has generously agreed.

I think a lot of it is attitude. Many holo-grinders are a part of the "gimmie" generation. They expect something for nothing, and can be very demanding about it. My approach was simply a respectful e-mail well in advance, an offer of compensation to be determined by the individual in question, and a request for aid.

I think, if approached in the right way, anyone would be happy to help out a fellow player this way, so long as they treat you with the respect we all deserve.

I am glad to hear that. I also have set up a lvling party with a holo grinder once. I think he got off kinda of cheap at 5000 a box

Charging for training is fine

The attitude that holo-grinders are somehow contemptible is not

If I met the player above who refuses to train people doing holos and I was feeling crankyI'd /addignore, /cityban and add him to the ban list at the mall I share. It's plain rude

Essentially Squad Leader (which is a profession I like and one I played before Holos came along) is a social profession and I'm not quite sure how it benefits you to antagonise potential squad members

I can't think of any way to guarantee you don't have a Squad faster than the assumption that you're an officer and everyone else is a squaddie

thats kind of dumb you ask me for training then get refused and add me to ignore.......your brilliance is simply astounding.

I refuse to train hologrinders for the simple fact that the majority of hologrinders out there do NOT give a crap about the professions they are grinding. It is a , level it as fast as i can-so i can get on to my next professsion, deal. Hurry up, get thru this *sh!t* profession so i can go onto the next.

i highkly respect my class and thos eof us who have stuck with it for so long...and im sorry for ally ou hologrinders out there.......but unless the person shows respect for the class then theres no way in heck i will train them. You think I want every bungler on the server running around in my proffession because a holo told them so, event hough they could care less about the profession itself??????

and thatd rude?????? its rude becaus ei respect my proffession and care about it enough not to want disrespectful players level it?

if something were to happen such as the one guy above stated.....that he sends a mail in advance and is rather proper about it...id probably train him because he isnt acting liek a deviant.

But any1 who just waltzs up to me or sends me a tell while im in the middle of doing soemthing is going to get told no if they are hologrinding.

if i get a request from sum who WANTS to be a master SL...i have been known to drop what i am doing just to help them out. If i get a request from some holo-grinder who doesnt give a rats butt about my proffession......you know where to stick it

I refuse to train hologrinders for the simple fact that the majority of hologrinders out there do NOT give a crap about the professions they are grinding.

And I would, if I met you in-game and encountered this attitude, quite happily revoke your status as someone who shares my game world by using the handy /addignore function

If you want to discover my attitude then talk to me about the profession. I love Squad Leader, it's an amazing profession and I'd love to share views with someone who also loves it and who has greater experience of it

If you lack the personal skills to speak to me, judge my character, bring out the good if there is good to be found, then you are frankly NOT a Squad Leader, you're just someone who owns a toon with those skills
