Thread: CU: Squad Leader Bugs and Issues

Bugs:

1. The group melee and ranged mods are not adding to our defense.

I have the same defense in group as I do out of group and the same is reorted by my group members.

Ex. I have 145 melee defense and 50 pistol defense (while holding pistol) for a total of 195 melee. The skill mod for +30 group melee appears in my skills by total defense still remains 195 though it shoud register 225.

2. Rally does absloutely nothing. I get no sound, no particle ffect no flag, no screen measure, no combat message. I get nothing.

3. Volley Fire. Doesn't do anything.

Issues:

1. Group other than the mobility line are no adding to a persons defense.

2. Rally does nothing.

3. Formup doesn't seem to have any value

4. Need atleast +10 general speed and +10 general accuracy added to master box

5. We have no new combat specials: (maybe a consideration of adding a effect to a weapon or two maybe a small flame on the flare pistol for example)

6. Nothing has been added to SL to make us function better as a Squad leader (though I guess we get put off till our revamp whenever that happens)

7. SL xp needs to be changed back to some type of group gained xp

8. pistol xp makes pistol skills an unstated prereq for SL)

9. As Smugglers recieved combat fixes in the Cu and did not have to wait for their content revamp, so also SL should have been fixed from a combat standpoint in the CU. INstead we are now more broken then before.

10. The level system makes it difficult to take out a grp of low level players as our weak combat abilities and the lack of lower level players having much combat ability will cause dmg and defense problems.

I'll try to update this often as possible hopefully this will help Irott out until he gets back into testing shape.

Biggest Issue of all:

IN a new combat system that stresses group interaction you would have thought a "Squad leader" would have seen his/her value increased; instead we are the least needed proffession in a grp.

You forgot that our xp is now completely screwed up and doesn't even require groups anymore.

Add to that: a high level SL or a MSL will ruin play experience for his group when he is grouped with several beginner or very low level characters due the current level-damage mitigation and the level-xp bond.

One high Lvl MSL grouped with several lower chars, would raise their level to a degree where the low level chars will not be able to kill MOBs/ NPC anymore at their current group level, while at the same time going after lower level MOBs/ NPC will not give them any benefits in XP because the XP gain is also tied to the current level of the char.

Currently LvL is a more important factor than armor, group or weapon in PvE play.

I'm assuming Irott will want to make his own bug thread now that he is back to keep up to date with out bugs and issues. This was just to give him a head start.

That's understandable. There is a lot of issues and bugs despite the drastic gameplay change, UI change look and feel of the game. anything i can do to help I had great hopes for us in teh CU but now I'm just hoping to have some functionability restored at this point.

Unfortunatly unless they start giving some more love to the SL I might only keep novice for the base take down skill. Even the ability to expand the number of people in the group would be enough for me to keep SL, I really want to keep master SL but with so many specials not working or not needed it is just not worth the point investment at this point.

After training to Master Squad Leader last night... I discovered that all our skills have become obsolete. This Level con system and how it affects grouping has really killed our profession.

I urge all of you that have played a SL in the new CU system to post in THIS thread and express your opinion on our role in the new combat system.

Agreed, irott. It seems we're actually worse off than before. FormUp has no use in a world where everyone has stun/dizzy recovery, especially when there are no more AOE attacks that stun. BoostMorale is even more worthless than before, with wound healing being free to a Doctor and no more Combat Medics suffering mind wounds from healing mind. Rally of course does nothing. Steady Aim, well, I already seem to hit people around 85% of the time in duels, so this really isn't needed. Group defense bonuses don't appear to be included in defense calculations.

Even the mods and weapons we get don't count for much, especially when you realize that for the same skill points (and a more useful prerequisite branch in Exploration) Bounty Hunter gets better skill mods, fantastic special abilities, and weapons identical to our coveted E5 and Intimidator. There's absolutely no reason to make an SL toon in the current CU, except perhaps for a MBH to dump his remaining points into (MBH/MCarbs/SL0404 is a rather nice build, mod-wise).

So yup, I don't know how they did it, but the Devs actually managed to make us worse with the CU .

I concur, concur and concur. SL got the short end of the stick with survival rather than exploration. SL got the short end of the stick needing millions of weapon xp (the combat xp equivalent) but no specials or real mods to get them. SL got the short end of the stick by maintaining specials that are irrelevant in a post CU world.

The only feather for the SL cap is that if someone wants the intimidator they will have to spendtheir SP on a hybrid prof that gives almost no bang for the buck.

I really do hope there is more that just needed to be coded for the SL and hasn't gone into the CU yet. T-minus 2 1/2 weeks til it hits live though...
