Thread: Two Easy Upgrades for the Squad Leader Profession

1. Allow Squad Leaders to have a faction pet bonus. ie: Novice gets 4faction pets at once and master can have 6 at once.


2. The Squad Bunker is a great idea. A defense structure that has defense and accuracy mods. That would in no way interfere with ranger camps and would make us very useful AND would be unique to SL.




These two changes would make a world of difference in the Squad Leader profession.

Wow I really like the squad bunker idea...maybe even a couple like Gun emplacement, a small structure that gives bonuses to hit or fortification, bonus to defense or command bunker which could do....oh hell I don't know what a command bunker would do but it sounds cool.

I think this profession is one of the most vital in the game - serious attention needs to be paid to it in order for combat to stay interesting. Please fix the bugs and address the issues and concerns SL's have on behalf of all of us!

That sounds like a great idea Kam!


Lots of people are dropping SL due to too many wasted training points. SL profession definetly needs some imediate attention.

Thatis the reason i went SL. I thought (wrongly) that by being a Squad Leader would actually let me control more faction pets, but alas, we are no different from any other faction member.

As for the bunker Idea, check this thread. We bounced around the idea alot. Even made concessions to the rangers saying that we wanted a bunker type that we could put in or on a ranger camp.

Kam has excellent points which I feel should be implemented. I hope the Dev's seriously consider his ideas which I completely agree with. It would add a much need 'umph' to the SL prof...which definitely needs it! Don't let these creative ideas slide.

Seriously are u talking about trying to add more faction pets? I mean going against imps w/ 3 at-sts is ludicrious...and ur talking about having more of them?


Maybe its me, but that's just plain ignorant. OK they nerfed Ch's so they can't call 3 rancors out at the same time, but still Impscan call 3 at-sts and ur talking about having them call out more?


I'm a squad leader and Master CH and wouldn't even think of having more faction pets out. Y? Can u imagine me w/ two graul maulers and six troopers behind me? I can and as cool as it would be there was be a huge advantage in that...way too big of an advantage. The idea of the bunker is an interesting one...but you gotta realize that having more faction pets really has nothing to do with squad leader or this profession its you just wanting to have more men at your disposal.


I do think they need to fix certain problems with this profession, such as the retreat command, which I think is a waste of a command. I do not want my group to retreat ever..but would rather go down in glory than to run away like a coward.


Giving squad leader "special" abilites is what should separate us from any normal soldier. Commandos and BHs got huge boosts to their professions, while Squad Leaders were left in the dust, wishing our profession was as cool as either of those. Anyways, most of the ideas for Squad Leader our there make sense, but having more faction pets does not. Also the bunker idea would help tie into us having to get survival 4, because right now i see no reason why i needed it.

What about only being able to use the FP bonus in battlefields? Restrict it just to that.


Also the AtSt thing is a whole other issue. They should be vehicles and not pets. But I digress.......


So a combat/defensive bunker seems like a good idea to all that have posted. It doesn't interfer with or step on other professions and would add an interesting level of strategy in combat.



So.... devs? What do you say?

I like the faction pet idea, it makes sense if you are soloing.


Yes, AT-STs are a seperate issue, but if they stay faction pets then I think that negates this idea, unless it can be restricted to 'soldier' pets only.


The bunker idea sounds cool, but what exactly would it do?

we have been talking extencively about the idea of 'fortifications' for SL on this thread:

ideas for fortifications so far have inclueded anything form trenches to sand bags, bunkers, barrior walls and more. the basic idea of a SL fortification would be to boost a groups melee and/or ranged defence and posibly boost the SL abilities, assuming they get fixed in the near future.


fortifications would be a temporary stucuture alot like camps but they would not preform any of the functions that ranger camps currently have. we also discused the posibility of joining a ranger camps with a SL fortification to create a fortified comand station that would preform the functions of both.
