just some random thoughts from test center tonight.


almost every one of our new abilities have a viable use! of a full dual row tool bar only 5 non sl abilities can fit! sweeeet.


really all of the little things that need to be tweaked seem to be pretty simple fixes.


there are major issues though with the lamest of subjects right now.....................................

oh second chance... it never worked for me on tc, just the glowing icon with theyellow bracket around it. but in concept this is the onlyability i can see causing a problem. someone else who might have testedit stop me if im wrong, but it seems i could take a group of 8 with 3 healers, me and the healers stand for instance at the door of the dwb in saftey, while our buddies pillage the inside whilst i spam second chance and the healers just heal our newly aquired damage, well you get the picture.


overall awesome stuff. but really scary when you think about how the patches have been getting pushed out.

oh and yeah, if they don't make it to where the buffs drop when you leave the group, its gonna be bad as well.

No your not talking to your self .
Im listening/reading but so far I havent anything to add since I can not test anything on TC.

I had some questions regarding calledshot and its effect as well use read them here.

If you can report anything or test anything regarding that I would be realy greatfull since I cannot see the advantage of using this ability yet.

Further:, this is taken from the old Squad Leader FAQ from CaptainVemnox, maybe this works for the new abilities as well:

    I have seen Squad Leaders shouting commands a lot. Why is that?

    Many Squad Leaders enjoy role-playing their class. We are professional soldiers leading the way into battle so why not act like it. With the use of the /set command, you can add text to your skills.

      /set%C %text



    Where %C = command and %text + pharse

      /setsteadyaim Hold your targets.


    This command will have your character say "Hold your targets." when you use the /steadyaim command. Try to be original but also try not to be vulgar in your use of this command.

i did test called shot. this was with a noob character shooting a cdf with ranged shot. with no bonuses she hits consistantly with 63pts.


when called shot is used it paints the target with volley fire animation, this does not drop until the target dies.


here are the 6 hits preceeding my call for called shot: 63 -149 - 63 - 51 - 63 -63

so its like a combination of steady aim in its current state and volley fire.


interesting to note i could paint two targets at once using both of these commands. no way to tell which is which though for others in my group.


- i knew how to change the spacial text thing, i'd just like to be able to turn it off in pvp so i'm not the first target

Forgive me for being selfish here but can anyone on test center check when they have time to see if the paint target reticule still needs to have atleast half partical effects setting? Up until now I've had to sort of assign a point man by haveing everyone target a group member so they all attack the same target since most of my friends set everything to lowest due to horrible lag lately. A little off all the topics but it's one little thing that's been bugging me like a hangnail for some time.

i'll check as soon as i can get back in.


heres some more tidbits i posted on tc forum:


when using volley fire with assist passthrough the animation sticks to your groupmate and not their target. the effects of the volley fire do apply to the target though. 124974


as MSL if i use charge! and then wait for Retreat to clear and hit it i get the effects of retreat with no cost to my or my groups ham. the icon for the -200 def does still remain as it should. as you can see i can create an endless loop of group burst run, and since i can currently do this from other planets... well you get the picture. 124975


one should not recieve the beniefits of being under the influence of a squadleader if they are not in the proximity of that leader.


now even a level 15 wort will spam kd


mega zone crashes, ship leaving without me, that kind of thing

Bummer. Well I'm used to haveing a pointman for targetinganyway so I guess it wont be too much of a pain. Thanks for checking though, I imagine I'l have to get used to a number of new sights and sounds. Heh, my toolbars gonna jam packed with macros.

i think i'll just talk amongst myself for a while.


i really liked charge as well. it seems the devs took our ideas about this ability and made it into reality, really nice.


as far as retreat goes, i agree with dreven to some extent. it is a instant group clone button if your crew is not prepared to bolt. i forsee me making a /sys macro that hits about 7 seconds before executing the move to the effect of "prepare to retreat!" to give everyone time to get the max health bar they can. it seems to be even faster than any burst run currently in game (+ to terrain neg?) and in a test situation in pve it worked great, we were out of the heat of the brutal nyms patrol before they could fire off two shots at us. (and those guys are nuts on tc right now spamming specials) gonna have to test it side by side against the other burst run options and figure it out. but i was amazed that i could put myself in a situation where it actually worked, i was very skeptical.


another thing i liked was applying the spacial shouts to other moves that previously didn't have them. some funny stuff too. Booya! is one . which reminded me to ask this question.


is there a way currently to remove these spacial shouts in their entirety? sometimes i do not like to advertise my leadership status. even volleyfire has one now. i think they are fun, but i'd like to get rid of them when they get annoying. anyone know anything about this?

no problem at all, thats why im there.


it seems that /sys is the only ability tied to gl atm. i was glad to find two msl could not stack paint target.


this post is the only time i will conceed there are cool possibilities with two sl in the group. i am totally against this, but...


with two, we were able to do some nifty things, like he could apply formup and i could charge! i don't know if this was intended but then i can use my personal burst run and out run a speeder bike. with no tn in scout. it was the fastest i'd seen anything move on the ground in the game. stacking paint and call target was devistating when combined with the other buffs two msl can provide. it was fun to work together to get this rythem going. it will have to be worked out ahead of time who is doing what in that dept. further testing needs to be done, i fear that call target is stackable by 8 group memebers, i think this might be bad in combo with paint.


so knowing that the devs probally wont listen to the community about this, i figure its gonna go live this way. and here is the only consolation i can offer you guys. i have a feeling even with the uber buffs a 8 man sl team could provide i still think a well organized group can beat them down hard, they are just too much cannon fodder. now the 4 man group with the 4 mls mdef, thats a whole nother story. what we should be most concerned with now, and things that can just NOT GO LIVEis the fact that i can:


1- buff from other planets


2- buff people outside my group


3- buff people and when they leave the group the buff sticks.


there are lots of other little game breakers in there, but if those three aren't changed our proffesion is screwed.

A thought comes to mind here that if i were the shadey sort, I could sit at the landing platform on the avatar and spit out this and that while the group is out looting. I wouldnt have to worry about a thing while I could spam things like retreat and such. I'm also seeing similar things in pvp but I'l try to have a little hope that they take those problems you pointed out into serious consideration.

forgot to add this:


this is just a funny side note. you will enjoy the first month of this patch, watching unsuspecting group members completely flip out when you pull a retreat on them. it does what it says (empties both action and mind pools W/ dramatic decrease to regen of both) to an unsuspecting group of entertainers and or noobs. they really don't know what to think. spacial looks something like this:


/killerforcedude says, W T F!?!? OMG DOOD whers my hams?


/freddurst says, ummmmmmm WHA?


/darthnoobian says, HEY STOP THAT!


/shelly bursts into tears.


/daaaaaaaaaaaaath yells, DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!


/sassy twi says, WHAT HAPPENED?
