Thread: It seems that Roleplayers are drawn to the Squadleader Profession, doesn't it?
I know, for one, that I'm a roleplayer at heart. Sure, every now and then I'm forced to ask for training OOC, but for the most part I like to stay in character. It seems to me that being a squad leader is the best place for a roleplayer to be. As a SL many players "look up" to you (or look to you for guidance) and it is in this position of power that SL's can really shine. By introducing a roleplaying element to the party, I believe, us SL's can begin to shift this game away from power-gaming (which is good...to a certain extent, in certian situations) and more toward roleplaying and character development. Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part, but I sure think it'd be cool to see players really getting into character.....and I believe that us SL players should step up to the plate and start making a difference...
Just my two cents ![]()

I, too, am a squad leader and a role-player. I've been forced to take dayjobs as a Ranger and Bounty Hunter just to keep myself effective until my primary professions of Squad Leader and Carbineer are fixed and balanced out with everything else. I think that people in my guild look up to me as a squad leader (then again, I am the ground forces commander for my guild, so that might have something to do with it :smileywink
. Basically, I like what you've said here.

l33t power gamer all the way here =P
Even though our skill tree isn't very appealing right now I am truly happy with my character profession. To be honest: I love the fact that there are only a few Squad Leaders! Everyone has a Bounty Hunter or a Commando these days, but how many people actually have a Squad Leader?
Be unique!
I think rp'ers tend to migrate to gimped classes in general. Look at all the carbineer/squad leaders there are...(like me).
It is difficult to feel like you're rp'ing when you take an uber class because A: everyone and their moms is a bounty hunter and you never feel unique and B: when you play a gimp the way you play makes or breaks your success. A CH/Pistoleer can just spam their best shots and follow their pets all the way to mastery, but using "Rally" and "Steady Aim"effectively takes a lot more skill.
Ahhh ..fantastic...some roleplayers.
I'm also a roleplayer, and try and stay in character (in public). Some of the things mentioned here really bring a smile to my face, 'cos i'm the same, Carbineer, Squad Leader, trying to get Ranger and Bountyhunter.
Hope some of you roleplayersare on the Eclipse server, cos as far as I'm concerned, I think everyone's gaming experience is made all the more richer for it.

I don't RP per-say, but I know what you mean. I play a Master Smuggler and Squad Leader. I'm the guy that can lead a group in to battle and give them direction, purpose, and confidence... I'm also the same one that can feed their addictions and provide them with things that are less than... on the level. I enjoy playing both, though I will admit my SL skills look like 1/0/1/4 at the moment, simply becuase I want to see what they do with us before I go any further. I'm all about helping others in groups, I'm just not sure if I will enjoy the class with the changes they have talked about implimenting.
