Thread: It seems that Roleplayers are drawn to the Squadleader Profession, doesn't it?

Actually, SL is the only class that people seem to greet you with some personal respect.

Its kindof weird.

My char has been CH... every time I looked around for a group, i was invited due to the fact that they needed a pet to tank.

'Any baz groups forming?' (me)

'Hey you CH?' (them)

'yes' (me)

'got big pets?' (them)

'6500ham my biggest so far' (me)

*receive invite*

Spend the whole hunt being the pet handler.

When I was 2H swordman it went more like:

'Im LFG'

'You CH?'

'No'

'BH?'

'No'

'what are you?'

'Heavy swordman'

'k'

*no invite ever sent*

Became Squad Leader, put that in my icon..

*enter Dathomir, exit out of shuttle*

'Hey a squad leader!'

*get invite*

*accept invite*

*leadership of group transfered to me*

Sysgroup Message: Greetings.

And for the life of me, I dont know WHY this happens. A CH and even a swordman have skills that benefit a hunting group much more than what I have. A CH has the tank pet which the group literally relies in, swordman can kill off aggros and adds much faster than 3 gun users can..and take aggro (aka, tank).

Probably itsterrain negotiation boost that they like (since almost everyone has exploration1)..which frankly is usually detrimental to the group since we usually run INSIDE a nest that pops up 40m in front and thanks to our movement speed we end up inside the nest before we can react / lag lets us react...

'cause its not the ranged defense they like.. baz's dont shoot back.

'cause its not the melee defense.. thats what the pet is there for and people that do get aggro still die in 3 bites, SL or no SL.

'cause it cant be the sysgroup message... doesnt do anything to help them in combat, and IN combat most people dont read it (or gets lost in the clutter of icons/chat spam..even when I put it neon pink)

Could it be the Steady Aim/Rally? Everyone already has a **edit** good accuracy rate. So perhaps not..

Volley Fire? Possible. I dont have this one yet, but ive been in groups with an SL that used it. Good for aggro management but its not exactly *THAT* good that would make an SL receive such a treatment over other classes.

Dont know, but I like it.

'Foolish boy. Don't you know anything about Fantasia? It's the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature of it, is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefor, it has no boundaries.'
'But why is Fantasia dying then?'
'Because people have begun to loose their hopes and forget their dreams. So the nothing grows stronger. It's the emptiness that's left. It's like a despair, destroying this world. And I have been trying to help it.'
'But why?'
'Because people who have no hopes are easy to control. And whoever has control has the power'

now that i think about it, the real reason i was drawn to SL was not the fact that im an RPer.... but just how i desied my character to be based off of wedge attlies, who was of course red leader in return of hte jedi

How do you improve the entire game, and one of the more useless professions at the same time? Well this is a start: Help Support the http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=squad_leader&message.id=10609>Fortification Proposal

Hehe...when I started this thread I never expected so many responses! I, too, am a squad leader/ carbineer. I don't think that people are picking both squad leader and carbineer because they are (put nicely) somewhat lacking, now. I think that the idea of the squad leader has always been tied to carbines. In WWII, for example, the thompson submachine-gun was (in most cases) issued to officers and non-coms. So am I suprised that so many squad leaders have decided to use carbines? No way!Anddo I think that they are all picking up carbineer andSLso that they can claim to be the least powerful class? Most certainly not! The image of the squad leader at the head of his men with a carbine just, plain, fits. Which, interestingly enough, is a sort of unintentional roleplaying...

Squad Leader/Pistoleer, only because I don't really focus on trying to kill things, I more often then not try to keep my people in the fight with my Medic skills, Mega Hybrid...

Pistoleer 0,0,3,1 Decent pistol abilities and can hold my own

Medic 2,1,3,0 Can keep myself and a few member on their feet, not as effective as a Combat Medic, but good enough

Squad Leader, 0,1,0,1.... Starting my hike up the SL tree

Pistoller/Rifleman/SL and RP

I must say that I just start my SL profession, so the only thing taht I have is teh /sysgroup system. But I'm lucky, I 'm in a good RP guild that allow me to do a lot of things. And in fact, peoplewant me, not the passive enhancement, not the boost speed, but some orders in the group, some tactic to avoid people to be killed, and my maximum to let them come back to their home without heavy wounds.

Seems that we have got a great reputation of good people in team people can trust becaux we are SL, they believe than we can imagine some new tactic, help them to discover how to hit in group, and finally have fun. Seems they think that we have a code of honour or something like that.

I hope that we can save this reputation. That's a good things

well put.

RP all the way I think RPers drift toward SL because its a lot of fun to RP as a leader, not neccessarily becuase it's gimp

and carbineers aren't all that gimp, cripple shot is pretty powerful (kills me in 1 shot in PvP every time, does about 800-1100 damage, i can't do that with my rifle)

sure, no master carb skill, that's kinda sad, and some of the skills aren't that great, but you get knockdown, posture change, bleed, and a powerful cripple shot.

I always wanted to be a rifleman (mostly because i'm a wookiee and bowcasters are rifles, too bad the bowcaster isnt a very good weapon) had to roleplay a wookiee you know, you can't leave out the bowcaster.

Master Squad Leader, Master Marksman, Master Rifleman

I'm still the only wookiee on Corbantis that wears a pink smock.

Well I'm NOT a roleplayer at all. Then why did I choose SL you ask LOL. I am working on a templete that offers the most Range Defense I can get and SL Tactics Line offers +25 to Ranged Defense. As for players liking me more or respecting me more.. I'll get that through owning Imperials not from dubbing myself a SL.

Ishpur's Profile ( To clear up any untrue slander that may slip on by ) UNPOPULAR VIEWS I HOLD. Eyeshot should not got to Master, it should stay at BH Pistol 2 and not be changed. Player Bounties should remain in Investigation 3. The BH Forum should focus their rants more toward gaining new PvP abilities for both MBH and non-MBHs. FIRST ACCOUNT: BH Pistol Line, Pistoleer 0,0,0,2 not going any higher, Squad Leader 0,0,0,4, TKA 0,3,0,4 SECOND ACCOUNT: Working on Master RIfleman, TKA 4,3,0,4, Fencer 4,4,0,0, Pikeman 0,0,4,0.
