It was good working with you even though we were on opposite sides of the field.

Too bad you're leaving. I understand you well, but the profession won't see me leaving before i gave it some good testing.

The decission to stay and go will be made after the thing is on live and saw some battles, i won't just drop out because of something which was on TC for short and nothing more. We pointed out several systematic flaws, there is hope that the worst issues are fixed before releasing it... or perhaps we're really lucky and the presented revamp won't come at all and we get something with decent concept and after some communication between players and devs in a year or two...

Sad to see you go.

To my knowledge the SL Revamp isnt even on TC currently, what ever that may indicate, Im going to wait till it hits live (and probadly even stick to it when we're "just a bard" ).

Still cant myself see giving it up, I would rather take a break from the game for a month or two than doing that.

Still you certainly did made that step without some seriously drinking and headaches after it, so

I am leaving because I disagree with the concept that they have descided to follow. Staying around to see how it works won't change the concept and thus won't change my feelings on the issue. That being said, I don't feel I am jumping ship early, but rather accepting the fates for what they are. If they change the concept to one that is more parallel to what we are currently, I would be back in a heartbeat. I don't see them doing that. It is clear from the dev posts (what few there are...anyone notice how much interaction Rangers are getting vs us?) that they are set on making SL what they have proposed. I am sure its a style for others out there....its just not my style.I am not sure what profession I will go to. Many of my command macros will always remain on my toolbar.

In a way, I feel I will have never left the Squad Leader profession, it's leavingme.

Sorry to see you go Drevin, I had hoped to meet you on the field of battle one day.

I completely understand tho, I'm battling with abandoning the SL titles myself. I've held onto them for so long, tho, that I don't honestly know what I would replace them with. I had hoped to reach Jedi Enhancer/MSL, but it seems that just won't be fun anymore. I'm going to wait until I see something definitive about PUb24 and our stuff, but I agree that it seems they've already made up their mind and left us for dead.

As any leader knows, Soldiers are expendable.. and I believe we've just been expended.

Very true. My last few months of being MSL haven't been exactly...enjoyable, but with the interaction I may get with Liakyk's guild, I may find what I'm looking for, but I have enjoyed being SL.

Hmm, actually when i picked up the SL, i didn't do so with the intention to lead, but to help the team.

But i feel very well that the proposed changed don't stand up to the profession squad leader, and while i personally am not whacking around on the "leader" part of the profession name, i also feel like the profession is actually loosing a good deal of its profile with the changes comming.

Anyways, there were some suggestions around which would help balance the thing, there were suggestion on how to limit a few key-abilities to the groupleader to still have it a leader-profession (wouldn't make other SLs in group worthless, after all, just would give roles to the people...), in the unlikely case that the Devs actually listen to us, there is still hope that the profession can turn out well.

Though, i also feel, we are still the unloved child. Some professions just have to complain about an itch and get a fix. Rangers finally get a great revamp and get enough communication ahead of time, so they can talk about it, things can be fine-tuned and everything can be allright. We SLs just got a trout slapped over our head with grunting sound which could have meant "here you are, now shut up", and mostly silence since then.

So the current status is:

/rally
/sys Hold your ground, we won't go down easily!
/volleyfire on most pressing issues

The situation looks bad, but the battle is not lost before the thing hits live.

to bad your leaving, Need people like you around here for advice and amusemment.
Need peeps like you for guidance on the battle field. think of itthisway, whole new challange. I felt the same way when the CU hit and Armorsmith got it in a bad way. I went for SL to be with people. Bottom line. even though people kept saying "it was a broken profession". It's all in what you want to do with it man. So far, from nov to master, I likey. the revamp has me uneasy, yet curious.
over all it will be interesting what can be done with the new found skills and really see if we can shake things up in the war.

something comes to mind. a song from my favourite movie Formula 51....
