Yesterday I was out with one of my SLs and in a two man/1 droid tank group doing gurks. And liek many people I was relearning what all my specials do. I found that when I simply target a gurk and /volleyfire with no default autoattack on that it aggrod teh gurk and pulled it out (if a gurk was close enough it would pull it to)

Now it is my understanding that /volleyfire simply paints the target and by doing so buffs the group you ar ein versus that specific target, but does no real damage to the said target.

So do you think /volleyfire should act as a pulling tool?

Me, yes.

I don't think it buffs the group, I'd be willing to bet it is coded as a de-buff onthe target, which is why its aggroing. As for it acting as a pulling tool, sure.

Pulling ability would be very helpful. Need the 'mark' to be clearer to see for the group too..

When I have done it, the other person playing with me has always seen it okay. (I even watched on their screen)

I have no philosophical objection to this, as long as it's functioning as intended.

It appears to do about 15% more damage when activated.

A command that acts as a pulling tool is a good thing, but I am not sure that /volleyfire should be it. My take on/volleyfireis that it should be more like "painting a target" so the group can direct fire. In a perfect game, this would give a massive accuracy bonus.

It can be argued that the fastest way for a player group to mow through a group of baddies is for everyone to focus on the same target, eliminating them one at a time. This command could be an enhancer to that tactic.

A pulling command would be great for the tanks, however, keeping the agros away from your combat medic, etc. Right now the Rangers have /rescue, but its creatures only, and for use by them alone.

Well /volleyfire right now acts as a painting tool (everyone seems glowy circles around the target" a bonus is supposed to happen (I don't know for a fact whether it does) and it is pulling mobs.

From what I can tell there is no damage bonus. Set my chatter to verbose and led a squad through the DWB for the heck of it, and well yeah some people could see the red painted targets (red cross hair that is pulses a few times going from larger to bigger), but most were pure out and out not seeing it. Not sure if it is their graphic settings or what, but they were having a rough time seeing it while making my job of "painting" targets a bit more difficult when they couldn't discern it.

As far as it pulling, yup, it is and working like a champ at doing so.

As far as damage bonus, I can't seem to notice it. I checked my combat chatter before and after using it and they all seemed to be doing the exact same damage. Would be nice to give a bit more damage though to help cut the target down quicker. I also wish the timer wasn't so long... when trying to paint a target and move on to the next, I couldn't just paint the next one. If there is no damage bonus and just paints the target, why should it be so long of a delay so that after killing one we end up firing on various targets again rather than sytematically cutting swaths through the SBD population etc in an organized fashion. Hard to lead using a given tool when we kill faster than it's timer.

I'd still like to see these specials not taking as much action cost, or either drain from mind only as it seems to be a mental skill and not physical, not like we are grabbing their barrels and pointing them for them.

We are gonna really need to test volley fire and make sure it does some accuracy and damage bonuses like the skill says it does. Be nice if the target would receive a debuff icon or something tell the group members perhaps that it is effectively reducing the target faster.

i'm no expert but volleyfire decreases the stats of the enemy not increases damage done by the squad.

the only time i've had group members not see the target is if they are for example combatant when i'm on leave, nor do they recieve any of the group bonuses i have to offer. this holds true for all squad leader specials except for system message
