Thread: to: SL corespondant (RL SL skills)
I was in the Military so I would say a SL would have some abilities of other professions. But since this would make SL a little to uber (hehe) why not give SL a spec that the other professions have + a few of there weapons for use and give SL a higher exp. for each skill.....
I dont mean alot for specials, maybe 3-4 skills that are for rifleman-carb-pistol trees only and maybe 1 weapon from each of those professions + one special weapon of there own.
This has been discussed a few times, yet it never really seems to get anywhere. It was mainly discussed as giving the other members of the group an extra special if they were grouped with you. The flaw in your idea is that you are able to master one of the main three ranged weapons along with MSL. Thats the great part about this game... you can mix and match your skills. SL's should not get combat bonuses that only effect them.
A SL specific weapon is too much like a commando or one of the elite three. Thats why I am really pushing for the e-web/heavy repeater team weapon. This would include a new type of weapon system specific to Squad Leaders, and create a new tactic in the GCW.
no no no .
not combat bonuses
Specials like .....carbaneer criplingShot----Rifleman headShot-Pistolier pistolwhip
maybe not these specials but this is what Im talking about
then as a bonus giving SL 1 weapon from each of these professions like t-21 ee3carb etc....
Squad leader is about leading, not fighting. Your squad can fight, but without them you are pretty helpless. The idea for a group weapon is (I think) something like a concession from the people that want SL weapons and the people that don't. Turrets or stationary guns are a big part of warfare and it would be great to have them. But if i want pistols I have to train Pistoleer, not use my leadership sp to get combat skills.
Understand the frustration tho. *cheers*
Whoa DiLune is on Ahazi? Amazing!
I think that expresses more like military rank than a profession. For ranking, you start low and learn how to fight and survive and etc etc and then once you get to a certain point, you are strictly leader. I think Major is usually the highest rank that is out on the field. In RL, you get older and work harder but you do less actual fighting because you've apparently become so skilled at strategy and command that that is where you are most valued. Squad Leader is a profession, meant to lead squads. If someone offered me better combat skills for being SL I sure wouldn't turn them down, but that isn't why I am a SL.
groups with a MSL in charge mabe get a discould in travel exp. increase in mission payouts or decreased range in mission direction or are able to have the mission terminals select 1 direction only for missions for the entire squad.
Rank in the faction of choice give bonuses for the team if overt.....A general would have more at his disposal than a captain or a WO1.

I agree, but the trouble is that Master Squad Leader costs 135 skill points meaning that the options for other professions are a bit limited. In my personal opinion, any hybrid profession that involves a combat pre-requisite should enhance combat effectiveness at an elite level. Squad Leader gives some boosts, but our boosts are far outclassed by buffs from a non-combat profession.
Wouldn't the solution to that problem be to increase the boosts?
