Thread: Grouping with Retards
How do you cope with retarded people in groups ?
I mean is it just me or do I constantly see people getting incaped and turned into corpses because .
a) They don't know what agro range is.
b) When they are shooting at a lair and something pops out and it agros on them because they are 5m away from it and they die , they don't realise weapons have a range and tanks actually can tank stuff even pets can tank.
c) They like to lead people into groups of red dots on the map and bitch when they get incapped again .
d) They always seem to be the ones taking damage and dying over and over slowing the group down to a grinding halt.
e) never soloed before in their life so have no clue to how must they suck .
Usually a player displaying the characterists below is a new player and may not know all the tricks of the trade of grouping yet. Before letting someone into a hunting group I'm running I usually have them try to watch us work for one or two lairs to get an idea of how we handle different situations. After that if they are willing to listen and learn, hey everyone has to do it at sometime. If the become a repeat problem though and are just doing it, kick em from the group as a warning. Most the time they will realize they are about to miss out on a boat load of XP and straighten up
If they only cause harm to themselves, I watch them, help them, and probably get in a cheap laugh or two.
If they are causing harm to the group, they get booted, after I talk to them and try and help them, of course, though it does depend. If they are a n00bie, I will cut them more slack than if they are a 733+ |)00|).

Lead a raid on Fort Tusken the other day.... I was embarrased for my group mates, it was so sad.... ![]()
The fact that half spoke spanish and no english and the other half spoke english and no spanish did not improve matters. ![]()
I could only watch and shake my head sadly as the group became scattered and disorganized in the caves under the Fort, and were slowly slaughtered, my interpreters either not getting the message across to my spanish speaking team mates or simply being outright ignored...
I've got no problem grouping with noobs and helping power lvl them, but **edit**, listen to me for a change! ![]()

In other words even leaders are players first. So the axiom is true... from a certain point of view...

Noobs are always hard ot cope with. Another that sometimes really testes my patience is when you've got a big group and every single member is trying to get information out of you:
"Will you guys still be at that location in 10 minutes?"
"Lets go aye"
"I gotta heal first"
"Whats the waypoint again?"
"Can you invite ..."
"Hi, are you the leader?"
"can we go to ____ after this?"
"I gotta leave after this"
"I forgot to clone..."
etc. Sometimes they dont realise they're all talking at the same time to me in /tells.
I can cope with that ok, its when you get grumpy people who start repaeting themselves or getting angry at you when you dont reply straight away that ticks me off.
Anyway - I love Squadleader.
no realy... the most stupid things they do only harm them like fire on the lair (the spawn will attack them) or fire on another enemie as the group (it will attack only them)
The only thing a SL can do is: give clear commands over the sys messages. Like attack the nearest target or kill the spawn (this with red big letters :-).
The other thing is hold the strong and important players back like Commandos and Doctors. As SL I watch all the time over the member status bars and see if someone got incap oder killed and can lead the doctor or medics to them if its usefull (I mean its useless if a doctor got killed in the attempt)
So mostly I hold to the directive: If the dump members got killed or are in problems created by themself, deal with them after the enemies are wiped out.

Since this game has nothing to do with the military your analogy is lacking.
People are in the military to follow orders. People who play this game are not, and in many sitautions do not like it, andif you are one of the people who blame the SL when their own actions cause the group to implode then you should follow some of the other suggestions and learn by watching.
I used to send these new players a private tell letting them know to STOP shooting lair after pops.
If they kept doing it after 3 such tells, they got the boot.
