"As I found out the worst thing to have in a group is not a newbie who doesn't know what to do(you can usually teach them how to do things right), but it's the arrogant commandos/BHs who think they can take on the world."

OMG I couldn't agree more with this...give me a smart newbie that's willing to learn over one of the arrogant commandos/BHs ANY DAY!

Tards, tards, tards! "sir! got a retard on my six" "INCOMING!"

I hate retards

I disagree with you e) point grailer, it's not because you never soloed you can't be good in a group, for instance :

-doctor/CM can hardly solo, but do marvels in groups

-Vet player in a n00b( or relatively )character, if they have done if before, they can use well placed shot to control the mobs, any states, supression fire, bleeding, or helping a member out is alway good in a team.

If everybody do their own thing, well, one of them will fall obviously, and they other will follow, they need to cover each other, if someone fall, someone else gotta help and prevent the mobs from breaking the lines. otherwise, it's chaos.

but your point a), b), c) and d) are SO **edit** TRUE!

Want to hear about the old Kudaark? huh?
Vangeance he seeks from those who took away his Loved One
But never an innocent or a helpless one will he harm
For he is a Protector, fearsome and fearless in battle
In the name of Freedom he sways his Justice
The Purifying Flame burns within him, a Kuun-Lan, he is...

Well as they say in the Military: "There are no bad soldiers only bad leaders"

Whomever said that obviously never played SWG

Since this game has nothing to do with the military your analogy is lacking.

People are in the military to follow orders. People who play this game are not, and in many sitautions do not like it, andif you are one of the people who blame the SL when their own actions cause the group to implode then you should follow some of the other suggestions and learn by watching.

I agree with you. HOWEVER ya know what I find funny... I have been leading big groups to various places, mostly fort tusken and in these big groups you get what a previous post said: bunch of people all chatting at once with various ideas and no one listening. Well, I found when I send a /sys message they ALLL listen! Its kinda erie! Everyone will be yapping away "oh this sucks lets go to xxx" "OH man I keep dieing ...heal me!" " no lets go hunt krayts" " Yeah I agree lets go to Talus" THen I send the message "we go no where! KILL ALL TUSKENS! Stay together soldiers!". The chatter stops, centralizes and teamwork gets better.

Just my observation. Funny how people will listen to an on screen message but not a group message.

Why don't you teach them how to be good group members instead of posting derogatory offensive threads about it?

I have found that if after 1or 2 attempts at curbing the unwanted actions by verbal abuse letting them sit out in incap or deadlands untilthe group is done with that particular lair/objective tends to make them more susceptible to taking orders. Then if there is a repeat performance the offender is kicked and banned from any more hunt/raids.

Yes it is harsh, but not only arethey messing up gameplay for other team members, they learn how teamwork insures things are handled in good order. i.e. everyone is still standing after the objective has been met.

The real problem is that noobs are leveling in an ungodly fashion because veteran players are allowing them to tag along on rancor hunts etc. They of course get massive xp and can easily climb trees for doing little to nothing.
Man I remember when I grinded to Novice CH back in the day, I did it on the tatooine outskirts, killing worts and lessers, it took forever but I learned technique and I earned my boxes.
Now we have players that JUST started getting to group with team slayers, and even though their CDEF only does 12 points of damage on that rancor they get to harvest for 600+ scout XP.
The AI needs to be tweaked to ALWAYS go after the weakest player...no exceptions. Mayeb if they die enough they will level hey way they are supposed to, on planets which suit their challenge level

It's a difficult question and I'm hardly proficient at dealing with it. i'd like to just point out a few things that OCCASIONALLY work.

As you know nothing always works.

1. Start your hunt off with some concise rules. Here are some of mine. NEVER shoot at ANYTHING unless the designated target caller or myself tells you to. NEVER shoot at a lair unless the designated lair thumper tells you too.

2. In order to protect their feelings (you are, after all, there to make sure the group has a good time)send a/tell to noobs when they do something dumb. For some odd reason I get so much better response from people when i send a simple tell. That way they dont feel ostracized or embarrassed and they can /reply to you with any comments of their own without challenging your authority. Do this quickly and then ask your group publicly to back off and give them a chance. They make a mistake two or three times, call them on it publicly. They do it a fourth time, simply remove them from the group and explain to everyone why. Period. End of story.

This goes for someone dying over and over stupidly. Analyze their tactics, point out to them your analysis and OFFER THEM A SUGGESTION as to how to not die. If they dont listen and become a burden, ask your medics to stop wasting your time on them. If your medics refuse or the person becomes disruptive, let them know and give them a chance to straighten up. AFter that... boot.

3. As for whole groups of people not listening to you, well i've not found a good method of dealing with that yet. I once walked away from a hunt and that just made everyone mad at me. I have tried simply shutting up and letting people do what they want. That doesn't work either. Occasionally i can chip away at people and finally bring them to some cohesion. But, there is no sure fire way.

As for the military comment... it is somewhat appropriate here. We may not be in the military (and we may not want to be in the military) but a good leader is a good leader and the world's militaries have spent millenia trying to codify what makes a leader successful. I personally am not a great leader... but i try very hard. And i think anyone who applies themselves to whatever they do will be able to overcome obstacles such as these.

Also, if a group falls apart, do not just blame the leader and do not just blame the moron who is causing problems. They call these hunting GROUPS for a reason. Having fun and getting along should be everyone's responsibility.
