Just a little note for HAM costs:


Without a buff in quickness, a single Rally in a group of 5 costs me 2,400 Action!


In other words: Rally is unavailable to any unbuffed SL.



Just something to ponder about.

One issue that I feel that hasn't been addressed is the SQL spamming. I've a SQL alt and I've been warned from CSR's for "spamming" in spatial. SQL benefits are great and all, but I'm not too keen on having marks on my account because people feel that I'm spamming. Is there any other work around for it in place?

We got a response about that a few weeks ago. All such marks have been removed, and the CSR's got a quick lesson in what it means to be a Squad Leader. There's currently no way to get rid of those messages, although you can change them to something nonobtrusive (like a single .) or more common (CH commands).

I experienced much of the same problems you described. If you do not have at least a medium sized guild to help you out with sl it can be a pain. If you can get 10 people to help you out for a bit it goes quite quickly though. It can be mastered in under 2 buff sets with that many people in your group.

Yeah exactly Sl needs to be able to carry through there ideas ... its a creative profession we have no good tools though

Is there any more *recent* news, as to when the Devs will give SL the overhaul it needs?


Or, is overhauling SL indeed part of the combat overhaul - which I understand isn't supposed to happen until sometime into 2005?

I didn't read this whole thread nor much of this board, but I just wanted to shoot in a comment that am I the only one thinking buffs are obviously leaving SL's ditched?
Nobody groups any more because it's not needed, anyone can solo an enraged rancor lair and such. I foresee that with the balance or removal of buffs, people will group traditionally more and SL's will automatically become a lot more desirable out of the box. A simple command like volley fire seems to be to be extremely useful in large and confusing battles, but who needs that in a solo group?

I'm sorry if I was extremely obvious and dead-horsey there but I just had to express it

Trylle no offece but vollyfire is a very useless comand right out of the box with or without buffs in the game. It looks great on paper but when you issue this comand it not only makes every range attacker(melee attackers are unaffected)switch to the target you choice but all the fireing times are now based off the slowest attacker so if you have a riffleman you will all fire at the target I desire but no one can fire untill the riffleman can so you stop your entire group from attacking for 3-4 rounds if you have a riffleman with a slow riffle all the pistolers could have taken sevral shoots in the count time you use to send that command. Its not functonal enough to be useful in a group battle if evreyone is now fireing at the slowest attacker.


Maybe this has been fixed but when I was using it. it caused more confusion then asstance not to mention anyone not in attack mode will not fire so you can not start off an attack with it cause only you will fire this command also doesn't switch the current target everyone has to it so everyone will hit the target and even be unaware they did. Also vollyfire adds no extra damage all the ppl who fire may not hit the same HAM bar and at a default attack only its not very much damage since using special will tripple or octaple the damage one charcter can do.


Hence why vollyfire is a usless skill that no SL typically uses. (also the ham cost is insaine)

I would also like to see sme kind of update to what the most recent changes have been and which issues from the original post have been addressed. I have been a Squad Leader now for just about a week and notice alot of the issues originally adressed still exist. For example, using rally fails what seems like greater than 50% of the time while having very significant mind costs.


There are also things that I personaly would like to change such as using the form up command. Currently you can not use it if you are under a dizzy state, but this ability is meant to remove such state. Makes little sense to me that Squad Leaders have abilities that will only affect the group and not themselves. I have never used VolleyFire out of the fear of what was just stated. Specials are negated and speed is reduced.


I believe there are still open issues and alot that can be done with this profession. An update to this thread would be most appreciated.
