Thread: A solution to the new 8 max player group.

we should take the raid concept discussed on the first page at least... and not cap the leaders of the different raid grps... instead we should cap it at some huge # but insist that all of the leaders must be SL... the original should have to me masternot justleadership 4... it shoud be somthing high end to tempt ppl to put points in SL and not just spend a 20pnt run to leader 4 (novice+leader 1-4)


there should be minimal bonuses each leader can place on their platoon so that the platoons may become more specified... like a 10pnt general healing bonus... nothing big... but enough to encourage each to be different, therefore... theoritcally forcing them to work together to be effective.

I don't really agree with having all of the leaders SL in order to be part of the platoon, even though i really wish it could happen. Devs have stated that they really don't want a certain profession to be required in order to do certain things such as this. I could live with having this as a master SL ability, it would give us another reason to master this profession.

That is pretty much the way it should be. I love SL but the minute you reuire a specific profession to do anything it can ruin balance.

I suppose it wouldn't _have_ to be a SL, but if for example you have three combined 8-man groups and only the main leader is a SL, only his group is getting the SL buffs. Maybe they could make it so that there are bonuses if all the leaders had some investment in the SL profession. Since this would/should be a special group, I feel that it may be warranted to have more highly 'trained' leaders to be able to create this size of a group. The main SL says "go do this" and sends one of the his squads. That squad leader would then be able to control/buff his group as he would now, but working toward the common goal of the bigger group. I understand that it may be harder to find more than one SL on at a given time, much less two masters! So maybe give a Master SL control of no more than 2 groups total, and as said before give incentive in the form of buffs to have a SL as leader of the second group.

They already require how many professions to take down a faction base? How about the Death Watch Bunker where you need a few more just to survive, not to mention actually craft something? Those are special situations, and I also believe that this merging of groups is also a special situation.

Agreed, the screen would be filled. What I would like to see with the platoon idea though is the Squad Leader should be able to switch to his other platoons and check on their status, seeing the current members and HAM etc. When doing this of course you couldn't see your current group but maybe this could be how the SL sends /sys messages to the other groups.

I like this idea. Making SL's more important in raids and large battles is a must. I think a group being led by a SL should have significant advantages over a group that is not. Make SL a true leadership profession like an Army General.

I agree. That's what I like about the current system. Because groups with an SL in them can be better, now I say can because if you get someone who doesn't know what they're doing, the group isn't going to last long, though with the right templates who know what they're doing can be better than the SL's group.

Well I started this thread pretty much in the CU beta or the first few weeks it hit live. I really wish that the devs would have considered this for our revamp.

They did in a way as in some of the skills that we wanted like group waypoints, paint targets, critical shot and distributing dmg and wounds across group members. What they didn't listen is taking away our passives and adding in multiple sls. We did think a chain of command would be a good idea though.
