Ahh, but your just a glorified boyscout, you have no combat Pre Reqs Mr Ranger....

How does creating Sandbags, digging a little trench in the ground, and having your Squad Dig In to it fall under Ranger....?

And, your not an ARMY Ranger.... Your more like a CAMP Ranger.... Ranger Joe kinda thing.... Better then an F'n Power Ranger, but nothing to do with ORGANIZED COMBAT... You do not have the Combat Pre Reqs to be such. Hunting, Camps for Rest, Tracking, and Trapping *Trapping ANYTHINGpreferebly*is your bag, stick to that, if you want to be a man slayer, take up an Elite combat profession...

We need tools to lead our group in various situations, just as a Ranger has ability to use his skills in a diverse set of situations.... Currently Squad Leader doesn't have anything. And this fits our Role, Combat Fortifications, our purpose is Combat, not healing...

If camps don't give signifigant healing bonuses, take it up with the Devs.... Not us. We wont have those Healing Bonuses, just combat.

You can rant and call me a moron by picking on a small part of my post fair enough *shrug*

But i am a squadleader and im telling you my perspective on the idea - it looks good on paper but not in practice, if you wish to ignore my critique of it then you are indeed fitting in with well with the current skill trees design.

I was hoping for a better reply in defense of your ideas, I dont agree withthis idea -but keep thinking of stuff...

"The Ranger is the natural evolution of the scout, open only to those who have fully elevated their skills and wilderness survival abilities. While the scout may have been comfortable in the wild, the Ranger flourishes."

This is a direct quote from the SWG strategy guide. as it states this profession is geared towards exploration, and hunting. I fully agree with the Ranger position that they should have "Hunting Blinds" or some structure to assist in hunting creatures. However, Rangers are not combat troops in the military sense. The person that posted about "Army Rangers" has no understanding of what Army Rangers are. As a former Tank Commander, I know what a Ranger is in that regard. A leader, nothing more. Ranger School teaches Combat leadership, and to an extent, survival. But survival on a battlefield, not in the woods.

I think that while the "Hunting Blind" should be used to hunt creatures, the SL fortification should be geared toward PvP, and non Creature MOBs. it would make sense, and it would give BOTH professions something useful. I'd like the ability to throw down a sand bag wall in AH when there's an Imp raid going on, giving the Rebel players something useful, and giving them a bit of a Defender's advantage. Attacking has always been harder than defending, as far as military conflict is concerned. And that is not represented in anyway in the game. As a defending faction, wouldn't you like to have some advantage in your "home city"? I see no reason why both Rangers and SL's can't get different structures, and why both groups can't be satisfied with what they could bring to the table. Heck, a group with a Ranger, and a SL should be the best of both worlds. Giving the group the benifits of not only the hunting expertise of the Ranger, but the ability to organize, and plan, and whatever else the SL can bring to the group as well.

I think that we can at least agree that both professions need ALOT of work. But I hope that the Rangers involved in this conversation realize the frustration we feel. Most will say "pick a different profession" but I don't want to. I like being a SL, just as you like being a Ranger. The SL profession in general has no real abilities that are useful, and the proposed ideas by the DEV team scare the heck out of me. ( I'm not a Player Handler, I'm a LEADER) but a fortification would give us something USEFUL. that's all we're saying. Please understand where we are comming from.

I would agree. I have said repeatedly that I want the Squad Leaders to be fixed and flourish. Just not to the detriment of a Ranger. My main concern with this idea was/is that this is an idea that has been floating around the developers for some time. We have been hoping this will be one of the things that will allow Rangers to grow, and enable us to stop being stereotyped as nothing more than hunters. I anxiously look forward to grouping with a Squad Leader and working together on an idea like this.

Sadly it appears as if Thunderheart has become a politician, changing stances on things as often as the wind blows. I hope that SL being fixed isn't one of the things that gets handled like the Player Cities did.

Best of luck to all of you.I look forward to seeing your wishes come to fruition.
