People have been saying that the new xp system is about 1/10th the original? Actually I think the formula is that it's exactly 1/8th the original, but you are receiving xp for everyone's kills, not just your own.

Here's another way to look at the difference. You'll receive the same amount of experience for your GROUP killing8 mobs, as you received in the old system for killing 1 mob yourself.

Looking at the math, let's say you're in a group of 8 and everyone killed a mob that gave 1000weaponsXP/100combatXP:

Under the old system you'd get 100 (your combat xp)x 8 (people in the group)x 2 = 1600. Under the new system, you'd receive 100 (group combat xp)x 8(people in the group)x .25 = 200 x 8 kills = 1600.

The amount of SLXP isn't exactly 1/10th of what it once was, but I understand now why it seems that way:

If you have a full group of 20 members, under the "original recipe", any mob that you killed solo you would receive the equivalent of 4x the weapons xp.I.e., if a mob gives 1000weapon/100combat and you killed it as the leader of a group of 20, you would receive 4000SLXP. Under the new system, you would receive only 500slxp.

With an average group of 4-5 members, under the old system you would receive the same amount of squad leader experience as you receive in weapons experience. So if you killed a mob for 1000 weaponsXP, you would also receive 1000squad leader xp. But under the new system, you would only receive 100slxp (the same as combat xp).

The only way to get more experience under the new system than you received under the old system, is to group with people who are killing mobs more powerful than you can handle on your own. For example, if by yourself, you can only kill up to approx CL13, you'd probably get a max of 4000slxp per kill (based on a Squad of 20). However, under the new system, (again, based on a Squad of 20) you could receive more than that by having your group kill mobs of CL80 or higher. Also, with the new system, you can receive SLXP even if you do very little damage or no damage at all.

The problem with this is that it is quite difficult to get large groups willing to take on these uber mobs (and the uber mobs are much harder to find) and this slows down the SLXP gain DRAMATICALLY. The current xp requirements for Squad Leader are roughly equivalent to those of Weapons XP, so whatever formula is used should roughly correlate with the rate thatweapons experience is gained.

Again, I point back to my original suggestion that we simply multiply the group's total combat experience by the number of people in a group....which, as far as I can tell, is the current calculation * 4.
