AAHhhh but there in lies the fault of your point. It DOES NOT defeat the purpose of the game. The purpose of the game is ULTIMATELY to make SOE money. What better way than to make the silly people who pay $15 to play a month to master every single job there is in order to get a FS.

Let me put it this way. people were getting a bit frustrated, nothing to do, no story line, most everything is bugged and once you've mastered the field you wanted most your left bored. Combine this with the frustration of not knowing how in the hell to get the FS and people start leaving. So, what does one do? Toss a bone. The holocron is the bone designed to keep us dogs nipping. As you can see its working. God knows how many people are now busting thier chops to get mastered at what ever the holocron says only to find they will have to master another, then another... eventually (in my opinion) to have mastered ALL. This is a guarantee that there will be players for months if not years and therefore money flowing into SOE's pockets.

BUT I can not complain since I will be sticking around for a while longer because of other bones being tossed my way. I am one of those volunteer Squad Leaders and not a draftiee. SO far I have had fun with it, RPing it.

Hehe, despite this "bone throwing"it'd still keep some of us here. Why? Because they threw us the ultimate bone, even before we could play this game:the ability to play in Luke Skywalker's universe. As long as there're Star Wars geeks out there who really don't care about the huge amounts of cash they're spending on a busted product, then there will always be a Star Wars Galaxies.

Squad Leader since day one (3 months) and while I've been thinking about changing for something else, it's been fun getting here. I don't know whether to feel sorry for or laugh at all those poor shmucks picking up their Holocrons and getting Squad Leader.. maybe if enough people get told that, the devs will finally start listening when we say we're not doing anything.

On a slightly less happy note, did any see the hot fixes listed in that letter from the Producer? SMUGGLER is getting an adjustment... and was Squad Leader mentioned? Again... just the same as last time.. no.

Here by choice as well.

I wanted to pick a profession that has group support in mind w/o being seen as a "healer" type. Thats why CM and doctor were avoided. SL was closest to what I had in mind to a paladin or minstrel/bard type of character.

Just joined, by choice.

It is the profession that best suits my character's personality, and will be a good compliment to Rifleman whenever it gets fixed. I still think some lonely programmer out there at Sony is working on us. Maybe.

(Meh give me a month, I'll join Club Jaded.)

Here by choice. I normally solo and I thought it would be an interesting profession to RP since it diverges from my preferred play style.

Been a SL by choice for quite a while! I just like the title it gives me.
I wont even be dropping it for my holo professions either

What's funny is that I joined by choice... have been SL for a long time now... and took my sweet time advancing... but I'm not treating it as a Holo profession. Let me explain:

With the recent changes to Squad XP, I've givenin to the temptationto grind through to Master, just to get that profession out of the way (in case a Holo tells me to master it anyway), and then drop most of the skills to free up skill points for grinding other professions the Holocrons might force me to pick up. I won't ever drop Novice SL or formup, and those are the two abilities I use mainly anyway... but I've been treating it like a Holo profession lately, trying to get through it just to get it over with.

Kind of sad, but I've realized that all those boxes that SL takes up isn't really doing much for me at this point... and thus, they're the first thing to go in freeing up points for the Holo-grind. Now I'm going to pick it up again at the end, and my final character will still be the Carbineer/Squad Leader thatI amright now... I'm just gonna have to ditch most of the profession in the interim.

And you know what? It won't make one scrap of difference in any of the gameplay, or on any of the hunts I lead. /sysgroup and /formup will work like they've always worked. And all the other abilities won't make any difference either way to the success of the group. Maybe when I've freed up the FS slot, and get SL back again... the profession will actually be worth a darn.

SL by choice. When you look at the skills and the concept, it's actually quite innovative. One of the things I've always liked about SWG are the unique and non-sterotypical professions (i.e, NOT fighter, thief, mage, etc.) I really liked the idea and still do. Furthermore, it's greatly exciting when I rally the group in the middle of a big battle and all the flags go up, even though I can't tell what it does. Squad Leader IS fun if you just relax and let yourself enjoy it.

If you're Master Squad Leader and Master Ranger, you don't have enough points to get Novice Rifleman...Sorry.
