well im grinding trying to open the fscs, i ask for training and then tip a fair amount. if paying for training is a demand up front then i walk and pay an npc trainer and do my little part removing some credits from the economy.

its up to you but ap is important if you ever feel like trying other profession later you will need it someday.

i have played 18 professions now, i like some and hate some and want in and out as fast as possible. sorry to say i feel for anyone who can play armorsmith, weaponsmith and droid engineer full time as those arent my cup of tea. but i fail to see who the profession grinders are tortured by others for just trying to get whats needed to play with a lightsabre.

heres hoping i meet some great new friends as i start working on SL today, as i have in doing the other professions along my force pathway.

My second holo pointed me towards Squad Leader two days ago. I formed my first group this evening on Dantooine ( only 3 of us, but it's a start ) and I didn't even earn enough XP for half of a box. However, it was a good time for me, as I generally hunt alone. Now I feel like I may have been missing the best part of the game, interacting with other players.

If hologrinding through Squad Leader offends you, then that's your prerogative. But for me, it may have opened up another aspect of the game which I hadn't given much thought to beforehand. Maybe I'll stick with SL after I Master it, and maybe I won't. Right now, all I have to offer groups are sys messages and pretty lights from my flamethrower.... oh yeah, AND a friendly person to chat with. If you want me to pay you for training because you think I have a bad attitude in regards to the game or the SL position, I'll likely pay you... but I don't think you're doing SL any benefit by trying to alienate other players with negativity.

Having said that, if anybody on Ahazi feels like helping me out I could really use a hand getting some more XP, and advice on which skills to take first, etc. I'm not in a guild, and I don't really have many friends that play this game but I am a nice person and aminterested in meeting fellow players.

cragar, i agree wholeheartedly.

i've actually met a number of nice people while grinding (2 weeks in the cantina helped, lol), as well as a number of idiots, but it's the idiots and self-centered players that give folks looking to find the fscs a bad name. many grinders (like myself) are having fun at trying many of the professions along the way (crafting professions aside). i have rl and in-game friends that support my choice and have aided me significantly in the quest.

frankly, if i had stayed with my mch/rifleman build, i wouldn't have met half the people i have met since the holiday holos came out, and i probably would be terribly bored (like a couple rl friends) with the game by now.

cheers, and i hope to see you all soon, as sl is next, hehe...

it has nothing to do with hologrinders.....its just a nice thing to do for anyone and i have never charged for any training. you probably were not very popular growing up as a kid, or maybe you still are a kid. even if you feel this way you should keep it to yourself so people dont think less of you. i know, i know you dont care, and that is the real root of the problem.

I've got to partially disagree here.. it's the SWG culture that is changing and theHologrind is part of it. I don't refuse training requests unless I'm busy in a group or the requestor is an ass about it. I have never charged for training and have never left a PC Trainer untipped unless they were a group or guildmate - and compensation was always offered.

You know what? I've received a total of 1 tip for all of thetraining I'vedone in the last two months. Many times I've gotten a /tell from someone elsewhere on the planet and I've shuttled to their location to give them the training they needed because they couldn't get to me for one reason or another. So in those cases, I've forked out credits and taken10-25 minutesout of myplay time to help someone out. Half the time I don'tevenget a"thanks".

I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting all those wonderful AppPoints so they feel that they are doing ME a favor (despite my being maxxed out on AP), or if I'm just a sap. Maybe I'm just locked in the mindset that people have worked to get to where they are and deserve at least aminimal /tipin recognition of their help and respect of their time.

I never charge for training, nor expect a tip in return. I've spent a ton of money on npc trainers and don't mind throwing a few coins to anyone else, its usually cheaper to pay someone other than the npc and keep the coin in the economy.

What I won't do is inconvenience myself to train anyone. You want training, come to me and I'll hook ya up, but I don't have enough time in the dayto chase down people to train them. I applaud those who do, but I wouldnever ask anyone to travel to me for training.

That said, I've begun the path to Squad Leader.I'm surprised how quickly the xp comes. I would actually pay big dollars for a master sl to come out with me on a large dath hunt and train as necessary to avoid capping the xp. I'd recommend those Master Squad Leaders, who like to go on big hunts to consider offering "guide" services to takenoob SL'sout for large xp missions at 100-200k for a few hours of work. If I stick with the profession, that is what I will do.
