"I have noticed that a lot of people think that it will make rangers mad, well in order to find out for usre, has anyone actually posted this idea in the Ranger forum to see what they think? Just an idea."



No need; enough Rangers have already come to this thread and said they hate the idea...unless it's theirs alone.

I think once people realize that the term 'camp' is general in this case, it will go more smoothly.

Maybe we should just call them 'fortifications.' Semantics tend to get people all hot and bothered.

Camps are not Combat oriented!



However fortifications would be.


Make trenches that enhance characters for the Novice SL.


Next comes a Reinforced Trench that is better and looks cooler (it has GOT to look cool).


After that give a small Bunker


Then at Master have a Large bunker.



Large bunkers would be require serious amounts of crafting. Unlike the Ranger camps ( I cant be held to this I'm not a ranger) they should be something that you cant set up on the run.

The point of these camps are something to setup during a fight or before a big fight is about to begin... As the SL finds the need...




Perhaps the low level Fortifications for city use as well *because not all fights are in the wilderness* a Sand Bag fortification for city fighting * can only be used where there is a room to do such...* I dunno...



Lets keep this Idea afloat...

Ultimately, this OUGHT TO BE SQUAD LEADER UNIQUE... And as a Fortification that gives Bonuses and Buffs to the group in a combat sense * and of course boosts SEVERAL of the Squad Leaders more Overt skills such as Steady Aim and Rally...* Not a restorative or healing sense... Its a COMBAT Fortification, that sounds like our forte.




Combat Fortifications should go to Squad Leader, it fits our requirements and would really make us popular with the people.

I see no reason for it not to be the regular camps that rangers have. Instead of giving us the physical camp, why not just give us the modifiers? I don't hand out weapons, or skills, my presence inhances what my team members have, the same can go for ranger camps. I think the presence of a squadleader leading the group with a ranger allows the ranger's camp to be defensible.And more over, it shouldallow you to attack or fight without loosing the status of the camp (something i noticed from my scout days, if you got agro in your camp, your camp was automatically abandoned, i don't know if that still applies.)


That might be a viable solution without stepping on any other profession's toes.

if fortifications do any of the same things a ranger camp can do then the ranger will be angry and will demand that our camps be nerfed. the goal is to not take away form any other profession, but to find a unique way to make our class better.


ranger camps are suposed to bea temporary stucture that can be deployed in teh wilderness to allow players to heal. thats why they disband if players are attacked, its not posible to heal people if your being fired on. besides a camp is made of hide and bone... not exactly the ideal defence....


the fortification should be designed specificly for combat situations and thats why they wouldnt disband in battle. as squad leader we are suposed to know how to manage a large group of people (/sysgroup), how to protect our squad (melee and ranged defences), as well as motivate and lead our teams with strategic comands and abilities. part of developing a good stratigy would be know when you need to hold a position and how to build sutible defences so your group will have an advantage

Please for the love of the Lord, consider this! Truely awesome idea and i personally like the idea of a master SL being able to put a Rangers camp inthe middle of the base .

its a pretty good idea but i think we need SLs to be just as Stand alone with Fortificaiotns asrangers are with camps. so while it would be great if we could add defencive modules to this camp your sugguesting i still want to be able to use fortificaitons with out a camp preseant or with a camp.

We do need some stand alone Fortifications but we should at least be able to make modules that plug into the ranger camp as he proposed.I'm sure ours would obviously be less effective without the ranger camp.

i disagree i think the fortification should be the same when used alone and when used with a camp, the only differance is when used with a camp, together the fortifed camp allowed both increaed deffences and boosted healing.

Im not a SL , I m a Ranger, almost Master. I have read about the idea of SL and camps, and I;m glad to see that long time ago, a camp similar to the one you are proposing was suggested in the Ranger Forum. In this idea, namely the Modular Camp idea, i think there is a very nice place for you Squad Leaders to participate in joint work with a Ranger to build defense MOD camps. I invite u guys to check the idea posted in this thread.These namedModular Camp that basically, its a High Tech Field Base on which the ranger can add a limited number of extra modules ( built by other professions!) . Some of these Modules are as following:



  • A enhnaced healing mod built by docs

  • Weapon & Droid Repair and Recharge Bay built by DE.

  • Shuttle beacons.

  • Mision Terminals.

  • Cloning Modules built by Bio-Engineers.

  • FORTIFIED DEFENSE MODULE, built of course, BY SQUAD LEADERS.

  • Small Turrets placed by commandos/weaponsmiths and why not SQUAD LEADERS!!! (I d rather see a SL placing it than a almighty powerful commando doing)

  • Entertainmen Module place by Entertainers that would allow them heal Battle Fatigue in the Camp.

These are just ideas of such modules. The idea of these camps is to make them the result of varios proffession working on them so at the end it will enahce and encourage teamwork and interdependecy. I also think Squad Leaders need to get fixed an be given better skills and abilities, and i think Squad Leaders can have a huge share of th Modular Camps idea. e as a Master Ranger would have no porblem on setting up a camp than by itself is no great, that waht makes it great are stuff that other fellow teammates putted in.


So please check the Thread. These idea is already in the Ranger correspondent s Top issue list, so i fu guya like it, how about the SL correspondent aslo puts it on its priority list?. If two correspondents of the same professions are asking for the same stuff to the devs, and such request requieres higher interdependency among professions, then i think we both classes would have a better chance to get what we both want.
