agreed. we need not flame or get angry/annoyed with one another. both proffs need fixing, and we are all of course biased towards our own proff
Smugglers and SL's, along with CH's and rangers (which is really nothing more than a glorified scout) are the four proffs i consider to be in the most need., and i think this is the general consensus among the masses. we should be supporting each other, not tearing one another down

Pointless argument really. Both professions need a lot of help but neither is completely worthless. I just wish the SL board got more dev attention like the Smuggler forum got from GreenMarine for a little while. Be nice if we really got a chance to discuss our issues and OUR vision of the SL profession with a dev who will actively listen/post for a little while.
Seems that the Smuggler community is also quite a bit larger than the SL community (which will ALWAYS be one of the smallest). Kind of warrants that their revamp comes first.

besides there has to be something arye with someone who would master a proffession that gives you an entire blank tree cept languages and a blank masters box,lmao

All kidding aside, read my post above about how the names of professions are missleading. Instead of looking for what the name of the profession implies, look at the profession itself. Creating a better Squad Leader profession isn't going to be done by making SLs the only ones who can form groups or anything like that. The great changes are going to be what enhances the role of Squad Leader. This means group enhancements, group combat abilites, anything dealing with being a group support profession.
Smugglers have to be approached the same way. The profession of smuggler is not only what its name seems to describe. And if your response is: "Then what is the Smugglers Role?" Well, I can't break the NDA for the CURB, so you will just have to wait. =)
Also, keep in mind that any addition of a smuggling system will probably only be one portion of a larger system. A law and order system, much like the imperial crackdown, needs to be set in place. For example the system that posts "Security Personel" at key points in starports, much like going through the metal detector at airports, would be something that affects everyone. Smugglers would just gain methods to counter these systems of law.
I am not saying thats exactly how it will happen, but thats what everyone should push for, otherwise smuggling content will just end up like the "smuggling" missions in space.
Ok... Im done making incoherent paragraphs that are somewhat related but are set up poorly.

You could also argue Irott that we don't have squads either.
Squads are military groups with ranks and roles.
What we're currently leading are groups. Which you could argue that it's a squad with roleplaying. But personally one of my highest wants for SL would be the ablity to orangize a group with a fire team leader and etc for PVP base raids or general raiding.

One thing I have always wanted is to appoint a melee lieutenant. Hear me out.
SL is designed as a ranged support class andsome of our specials apply to ranged classes. However Volley Fire and steady aim do not apply to melee. I think it wouldbe neat if in a group I could assign a "Lieutenant" who would get twospecials while grouped with me and assigned this role of a volleyfire like command and a steady aim like command for melee only. Once we disband or I assign it to someone else the Lieutenant loses that ability.
Just an idea.

How to fix Smugglers: Rename them to Scoundrel. Suddenly you have a scondrel profession who have underworld contacts, make drugs and illegal equipment modifications and fight dirty. A perfect scoundrel profession.
How to fix Squad Leaders: Make us a little more useful to our groups.
Nah... these two are my favorite professions, I go from master smuggler to master squad leader and back again all the damn time. Cant ever decide which one i love most...
