Thread: Squad Leader Tactics List
The most deadly SL tactics is knowing your group and make them knowing'ya. A good briefing, explain them how you work, and you want them to work. Remind them that you can still ban happy-trigger dude. If someone make the whole group killed, make him regret it... Be their pain in the ass, tell them that they can listen to you and Win, or go free for all in the heat of battle without the proper preparation. Make them have an absolute thrust in you
I will also have serious doubt about the efficacity ofpeople who:
-/say let's go, this is boring
-/say i want XP!
-/say let's go this is boring,I want XP
If they nod at you, you're safe
This is War godsdammit, no kindergarden!
Just a quick question..
I am having trouble deciding if i should take the range defense line or the melee defense line.
The deciding faction so far for me seems that the melee defense line has a better specail ability with /boostmorale .. as opposed to the about usless /retreat.
In future additions to the class what do you think would be the better tree to have?
Will range defense help the groud more due to the commando situation?
Or will melee defense help more with CH pets.
If you had to chose 1 which would you do?
I find that putting an extra \ behind the color works as well ala: \#FFF000\
If a space works there just as well, maybe any old character would work fine to terminate the color string? Goofy parser. It sure would be nice to get some scriptgrammer details, probably quite a few cool tricks we could pull of in chat, we just don't know about them yet.
Ah well, it's all getting a bit too complicated and asOccamz will tell ya, the simplest solution is usually the best
(sorry couldn't resist).

As a novice SL, I lack access to many of the skills that have been mentioned so far. However, I have used /sysgroup to my maximum advantage. This has been covered before but what I have done is create about a dozen alias macros to use with the /sys feature. These commands are basic things like: Open Fire, Melee Fighters Move In, Melee Fighters Fall Back, Medic Up!, Target North, (south, east, west)...etc. In order to keep them straight in my head if I don't assign them buttons, I make an alias using an acronym of the command (OF, open fire: MFB, Melee Fall Back, etc).
As far as other tactics: I have found that I get max benefit in the role of SL by keeping focus on the big picture rather than getting drawn into combat. I keep an eye on my group mate's HAM bars...watch for spawns, aggro's or reinforcements that arrive on scene and select the next priority targets. While I thoroughly enjoy this role, it does not lend to the max SL XP I could be drawing since I don't hit too many targets with my own weapon... But as mentioned before, my ability to lead a group will be based on my real skill and experience, not the points I earn in the game. Besides, I don't see anyneed to level up the trees in any great hurry yet.
Quick question for you other tip senders...I like the potential use of %TT but when trying lack night I got mixed results. I was alone in a camp programming these macros and tried %TT. It worked for /say (Hello lawn chair) but when I used it in an alias of /sys, the message in my spatial box was "executing alias> Hello %TT"...So did it work and I just won't see it work until I'm in a group or do I need to do something different? the program line I used was: /alias hh /sys \#ffff00\ Hello %TT.

I found that by putting an extra space before and after the \#ffff00 I was able to get the text to read that color. I also didn't use a slash at the end....There is another thread around here that has way more info on the syntax thing that I've got.
I"m in the same boat as you. I find my self spending way more time Warning shotting Adds off of my troops. I get most of my SL XP by bleeding the lairs and getting a lot of hits on 'em. But like you said, there is no hurry in this profession, or the game in general in my opinion. I prefer the fight smarter not harder approach.
