I think we need to move forward.

Wouldn't that be a novel change of pace?

I didn't start moving forward til I dropped this profession.

I hear a lot of talking, and a buncha folks scrambling for Cap V's seat. I thought I'd seen pathetic, but this is worse. Noone has a plan, everyone seems to think that filling the correspondent seat asap is the only way to get the profession fixed. Nothing could be further from the truth. Noone here can do things that Cap hasn't done 5 times before and with 10 times more style and sincerity. The devs have never, ever given us even the slightest mention or response to our pleas. TH is now between us and the devs we were communicating with originally. Do you think that will make them care?

The system we need to fix this profession doesn't exist. TH isstretched butter thin and obviously on the edge if he can't take 5 minutes to read a volunteer's report. Even once the completely inadequate "top 5 list" gets submitted to the devs, how much good do you think that'll do? It won't be anything they don't already know.

The only thing we haven't done yet is thrown down the gauntlet. What we haven't done issaid that we don't want anothercorrespondent just so we can continue to be blatantly ignored by the devs, we just want a fixed profession. I say we nominate a correspondent that will take his seat only once we're finally lifted to the place that the other broken professions have enjoyed. A place whereSOE repsread and reply and otherwise correspond with the community until changes are made.

People accuse us of thinking we're special, that we think we deserve some kind of special treatment. To that I say, special treatment is all we've ever gotten. We continue to be the only profession that has never gotten a single intentional fix, even as other professions get buffs that further demean our slim repertoire of barely-working abilities.Sure, we've been stepped on, and eventually the footprintshealed and they applied a real big bandaid, but we've never had a single fix for a single issue that existed since Beta. Even to this day, we have representatives of SOE onlystopping by to lock threads and to tell us to "Be patient". Even funnier, we have TH stop by to ask for our top 5, only to have it completely ignored (is anyone surprised?) even as this fiasco between TH and Cap V progressed.

No, a new correspondent will only put us back to where we were. I say we use this opportunity. They can either have us and help us, or they can not have us.

Doremar, you should be aware that Thunderheart HAS received our Top 5 and is working at this moment to get us a developer response by "early this week". However, the initial response will be posted in the Correspondent forum forthe correspondentto feedback and discuss with Thunderheart before action is taken and the official dev response is made public. If we don't have a correspondent, we miss the opportunity to get the first developer feedback on our reported issues....EVER.

Dropping the profession is a valid way to move on, I can't fault you for that decision at all. However, moaning inconstructively about how terrible it is to be broken and "woe is us, SOE has ignored us again" gets us no closer to a dev response. It just gets the constructive threads de-bumped, and locked off-topic threads sit at the top of our forum... Why aren't devs listening to us? If they want complaints, there's 100+ other places to look for that. If they want solid and positive feedback and suggestions for the Squad Leader profession, there's 1 place: Pages 2-5 of the Squad Leader forum.

On the original topic: I hope that everyone understands that just because a post is "positive" doesn't mean it can't be critical. There IS such a thing as Constructive Criticism.

What's the difference between a contructive criticism and a negative post? A negative post looks like "OMG! OMG! We're so !^&!$. Volleyfire is completely broken, fix it NOW or I quit!!" A constructive criticism looks like "I was leading a group today and my /volleyfire failed 8 out of 10 times and drained my Mind pool from 900 to 37 before landing a volley that did less total damage than I could do on my own with a single /DoubleTap. I suggest that we modify volleyfire to include a damage roll modifier so that we'll be hitting closer to the max damage of our weapons instead of the minimum"

So true. that's where I want this discussion to go. Criticize, but do it in a mature way. that's all.

According to TH, he has already chosen a new correspondent. Hopefully we can support this person the same way we did Cpt. V.

Speaking for myself. Even with the admitted problems with SL my guild still finds me to be useful as a group leader. So I intend to continue in this profession for the forseeable future.

My positive response is to continue to work my way up to MSL.

The new correspondent is Thulium. Because, according to Thunderheart, "you [Thulium] were first."
