Thread: PETITION: TH Resignation
I agree that cap did as best as he could, and I do think the way he handled the situation was admirable (although the whole thing seems to just be a rash of miscomunication.). I also think TH has been doing a great job in his post, although I agree that we finally need some attention. This is easily the most broken MMO class I have ever played. But I hardly think the resignation of TH is necassary.
Jester does have a point though.
Its alot simpler if you would just comply to what TH tells you to do. I still respect and appreciate the amount of work Capt Vem has done for us though. This breakdown of communication is unfortunate turn of events for us all.
This is a ridiculous post. TH has dont a fantastic job since he has joined on. Yes, I am frustrated at the lack of attention that Captian Vem and the Squad Leader community has received, but this is no reason to request resignation from a man who has worked extremely hard to do what he can turning this game around. If you want to blame the developers, blame the structure of SOEs correspondant system, NOT the one man who IS actually trying to help.
This postis a strong disappointment. This community has previously been relatively mature considering the patience we have had to have. But this is nothing more than ignorant and non-constructive.
Support Vemnox. Support the need for more attention and better communication and respect for hard working correspondents. Do not support this ridiculous petition.
Jest3r is not a Squad Leader and by that measure is not a part of the Squad Leader community. However, YOU are not a member of the Correspondent community and as such have only the knowledge of what happened as presented by Vem, Jester, and ostensibly Thunderheart.
Reading Vem & Jester's accounting I see very little discrepancy except as concerning their respective opinions. As such, I see very little reason to doubt either of their accounts and I understand the concerns on both sides:
As Jester pointed out, Thunderheart has the task of communicating with 300,000 people and whittling all their individual issues down to a "top" 175. This is a HUGE task that is multiplied by the fact that heALSO needs to collate responses to these requests from all the various developers. We fail ourselves if we neglect to empathize with the strain this must be placing on Thunderheart.
As Vemnox pointed out, he made multiple attempts to communicate with Thunderheart and the devs the issues that plague Squad Leader that appear to have fallen on deaf ears. Vemnox is justifiably frustrated and Jester doesn't fault him for that frustration.
On the other hand, Jester is trying to be helpful in pointing out what could have been done better.
I think it is foolhardy andchildish to call Thunderhearts request for a "Top 5" an insult to our profession or to petition for Thunderhearts resignation. We're supposed to be LEADERS here, but we can't prioritize issues?!? As a community are we too immature to understand that a request for the top 5 doesn't HAVE to imply that we're only allowed to get 5 fixes? Can't we respect the intelligence of the developers to figure out BASED on a Top 5 list that we need a full revamp? I know that it's easy to doubt at this point since we haven't had ANY changes, but keep in mind that Commandos focused on a few choice requests and the developers responded with an uberizing revamp for them!
The bottom line is that Vemnox was justifiably frustrated, and Thunderheart was justifiably impatient. Please do not think that I bear any ill will against Vemnox because he HAS done a masterful job as our correspondent. However, the mounting frustration was beginning to impair his ability to perform his duty. If we are going to have a "petition," I petition that we end this petty bickering and go about the task of getting this profession FIXED.
JEST3R:
You are not a part of our community, so how can you claimCaptain Vemnox failed to serve us? I do not feel betrayed in the least by Cap'n V's actions, and I imagine most Squad Leaders don't either. This profession has been completely ignored since launch (late beta, even) and has likely received the fewest number of development hours of all professions. This is all in spite of a fantastic job by Cap'n of leading, organizing, and presenting the views of the Squad Leader community. We could never have asked anything more from Captain Vemnox, so complete and thorough were his reports. An elephantcould have read one and understood what had to be done to fix the profession.
There comes a point in every relationship where a neglected party has to stand up for itself in the face of an abusive and uncaring partner. The Squad Leader profession has been pimped about by SOE for the last five months. Our situation is so bad it's laughable. Because of this, I have no problem with Vemnox being less than 100% cooperative with the developers at this stage. Sometimes an individual needs to selflessly sacrifice himself to further his cause. Perhaps Vemnox's leaving will underscore our dire need for attention and developer respect, like the conservationist who camps in an old-growth tree to awaken the public to her cause.
Thunderheart insulted all of his when he posted the "Top Five SL Issues" thread, as if we haven't spent the last few months repeating the same issues to them. Thunderheart might not have all the time in the world to read through "hundreds of replies," but he is being paid to bridge the gap between correspondents and developers. If he doesn't have enough time to do his JOB, then he should stop posting in all the nonsense SWG Discussion threads. But calling for his dimissal is absurd and childish, as he represents the only chance we have at reform.
TH is a tool, they are all tools, SL will never be fixed, and as long as your credit cards are being charged all your complaining and /bug's dont mean a thing, so cancel your accounts and await the release of WoW a game that will be completed before its released.

Jester does not have a point. He is brown nosing.
Poke your eyes around other forums...other correspondants are posting the exact opposite of what Jester says.
It is his opinion vs many. You decide.
Further, Capt isnt the first correspondant to resign...just the latest. They have been losing about 1 per week lately.
I am still waiting for TH's class update...the one that was supposed to be out 2 Tuesdays ago. He doesn't even mention it anymore. When TH can deliver on his own overhyped promises, I'll start to believe him. Until then, and until he actually has an impact on this game which at this point it appears no he doesnt, TH is just a fanboi who got a job....and apparently a job he cant handle.
although I think that TH should have been a little more helpful in the situation, and I think that Cpt V. could have as well, I think that calling for TH's resignation is immature.
/emote Commissar Elowagrabs the Caligrapfy pen, Jabs it in his arm and signs it in his ownblood hoping it will remove the idiot faster.
Think they will get the point this time?
Thats true, the grey matter that was once there no longer is.

This game has THE worst customer service I have ever recieved. DO NOT excuse the lack of customer service for SOE's hard work and devotion. What a load of B.S. This is a CO. the provides a service for a fee. I am paying the fee but only recieving 25% of the service.
You've obviously never played an MMOG before.
Theyre all this way. Especially for the first year.
Lots of problems, lots of balancing to be done, and lots of people screaming for new content while youre still trying to fix the old content.
I agree with you that ALL mmog companies need to put more work into the game BEFORE release. But they take longer to make than regular single player games and there is always pressure to push it out the door.
