Interesting Post. I was all excited that I was the only person on this threadwho had tried the Pikeman angle till I got to the end. Oh well..

I just started SL again after a LONG break. I didnt know about the planned revamp until tonight. My intention had been to dabble in SL for RP purposes. With a revamp on the horizon, I may have to master this after all. Guess its time to put the pike on ice and pick upa ranged weapon. Thanks for the template suggestion ShaddowLightning. I may have to give it a try.

PS ... to the Guy who started this thread ... I read what you wrote on another forum about SL's needing to be "tough as nails" like the SL's in all the great war movies... I couldnt agree with you more. My RL drill sgts scare the crap outa me...

I have combined the SL and Smuggler profession and it works out for great crowd controll espesialy with the dirty fighting, I personaly like this template over all the others I have tryed. The reason these two profesions work to gether is simple, DIRTY FIGHTING HEHE. The way I use this with the squad leader is simple, when my group is about to get wiped I use retreat so that the whole group get burst run to get away and I simply feign death untill I can get away. Also in PVP if you can't kill the squad leader the group still gets the defence bonuses, so I feign death in the middle of combat and my group still gets the defence bounuses. I also use the panic shot to stun oppnents for awhile untill some one can get them off of me just in case i'm getting attacked. I also combine Pistoleer skills in the mix and it makes for a great combination.

Thanks Devcha, now I can only hope the Devs agree with me.

Does having 1 row of TKA actually help? I am not very familure with TKA.

As for Rifleman, I heard that the speed bonus you get with Master Marksman makes a difference, thus why I am a Master Marksman going into Rifleman.

This template is fun, I went up dirty fighting to get the delay and ranged knockdown, was gonna go up underworld but the smuggler revamp got delayed. Once I get info on the SL revamp i will probably go back to Master Marksmen, Master Pistoleer, Master Squad Leader.

umm.. THat's not possible. Squad Leader requires 4004 scout at a minimum, along with 0004 Marksman.

I used to be Master Squad Leader, Master pistoleer and Medic 4/4/0/0 for extra healing support. The pistol part was mainly because it felt more like a officers weapon. I am now slowly dropping my pistol skills to try out Master carbineer instead together with my other skills. My medic skills will stay, a group always need extra healing.

I would love to be able to be Master scout soI could give my group exact levels on many of the things we are fighting, but I now have a regular ranger I group with, so right now it is no worry.

"Former Master Squad Leader," Yeraze. I'm pretty sure he's dropped it now.

I am a TKM working towards MSL. This works great if you are not out for yourself. Being the meatshield allows for my ranged squad mates to take out targets without the concerns of being gacked. Kinda of leads back to the old magicuser/fighter of pen and paper. With the added defenses it allows me to pay attention to the battle to make sure that my squad is doing ok. I kept the base medic just to be able to help out in a really bad situation.

I have found that you can do alot with the profession if you definitely use it as support for your squad. Other members of my guild who had not ran with me before loved all the benefits of having a TKM Squad Leader. Especially when we were facing Night Sisters.
