Thread: map out for revamped skill trees

mailek you have to notice that it seems like the devs dont like to pack to much stuff into boxes. Also with a major element of the profession, the forts, also being what could become a major element of gameplay im sure they would want us to dedicate a whole branch for it. Plus i cant think of a bigger better thing for a SL branch than forts.


Meanwhile i also think the novice box is empty but i couldnt think of anything. Suggestions are welcome.

Wow, good additions, Scarleta. I really like the Second in Command and the APC ideas. If the Squad Leader has to head out somewhere for a bit (town, training, AFK), it would be really good to be able to have someone else take control of the group!

I think taking fortication out is a REALLY REALLY bad idea.... even in RL a fortress is still very important in warfare.... in SWG the closest thing to forts we have are big camps. woohoo.


Besides, theres nothing better then a castle siege!

First Dark Jedi Chase you have some cool ideas and i like the one about the vehicle but that would not happen till player vehicles other than mounts are added to the game. And assist fire i think defeats the point. The group should really have to listen to the leader and if someone is unhappy they can leave. You shouldnt have leaders who do annoying things.


Admiral Bobs earlier idea about the shuttle of NPCs is interesting but NPCs are weak and wouldnt help much in combat. Also irott has stated many times that the devs say SL will not deal with npcs.

Another way to do it might just prevent the use of the Evac skill while in combat. That should clear up any such problems. It will end up being more of a hasty retreat to avoid a fight rather than escaping one.

Add to that while ANY of your group is in combat to prevent some of the problems going on now with covert and non-TEFd SLs.

the only problem i see with that is trying to peace with a pvp guy you are fighting. The evac would really only be necessary when a fight goes sour so i dont think we would want to keep it for just retreating once we are all intimidated by the size of the group we go out to fight. Maybe if you want to keep the evac idea we can put a delay before the evac would happen say like 2-5 minutes so that an SL would have to recognize early signs of danger and get the guys out fast. In that case it would work in the middle of combat and just cancel it. Also troops would only have say 30secs to 1min to accept the evac call or they lose it and die.

Hm...i always thought of Squad Leader as more of a 'general' class... as in the Army general, not the multipurpose general.


As such i thought squad leaders should have a way to call in reinforcements. Stiil, NPCs are rather underpowered... what would fit better there?

well my idea and i got it from some other poster's idea but i dont remember who was to have a two way shuttle at the top of the mobility branch. This shuttle would be able to move the SL's group between two location where the SL dropped shuttle camps. Then the SL could designate at the shuttle camps the name of another player who would be able to lead a group through the shuttle. This way an SL can bring in another group of player reinforcements. This would be hard to do but it would bring a huge new element to the strategy of PvP and also for group PvE because if say a group wanted to bring reiforcements out to the DWB they could easily do it.

Don't worry, I am keeping track of all of this.


Personaly I don't like making skill trees without a larger set of skills and ideas to work from. Don't get me wrong, I have made many trees myself. I just think it restricts the brainstorming process.


What I am doing is gathering all of the ideas that have come from this community and creating an "outline" for the Devs. Since we pretty much have to design this profession ourselves I want to have the all the ideas from the community to give to the devs.


Keep the ideas comming.
