Your off to a good start Thulium.

One thing you keep forgeting is the paint target command. This would compliment /sysgroup to no end.

I recommend everyone go to TC and try out the new HAM combat special system. Medics cannot heal that "drain" but I am hoping a certain Platoon Commander (won't name the actual profession I'm hoping for) will be able to, or at least increase the regen.

read the posts. don't know how to react. I'm a carbineer too, and they're screaming over there that they get killed in a NY minute

They will get killed in a NY minute?

THink about how often you lead a group of around 10 people and enter a tough fight then use rally 3 or 4 times to get it to work?

How fast will we drop then from /headshot 1?

but our passive defenses should make us wanted, and useful.

Thulium,

Brilliant. Good stuff.

One other idea: I've always thought that the SL should have some kind of beefed up /examine feature in order to find weaknesses of targets and select the appropriate attacks. Maybe be able to see the skills of a player so you can find thatmedic andthen target his mind barso he can'theal the rest ofthe group. Especiallyif he is posting anNovice Entertainerdescription over his head. Knowledge is the key to effective squad leadership. Know thy enemy!!

Hey Thulium,

Good start, I was about to give up on SL when the captn left but you have encouraged me to give it a little more time.

On your ideas:

1.I think we can forget about healing mind that horse has been beaten to death.

2.Extinguish seems like a good combat medic or doctor skill that is much needed.

3.We need more effective mobility, your melee example is right on.

4. Chefs need more love too, give them the rations.

5. DE need more love give them the repair bot.

6. Our own mission terminals, now here is a truly great idea, what better way to provide more complex and high end content than a SL mission terminal. This will go along way to promoting more grouping.

7. Give give us a little attention, that would go so far for the SL community, just an acknowledgement of our ideas and problems would ease the uncertainty that is being a SL.

8. /aimfor this is another great idea, the movies are perfect examples of this in use.

I would also really like to be able to paint a target for my group, I know this can be done with clever macros, but i know all SL have felt the pain of giving this command only to see a new player fire on an aggro.

Anyway just my opinions, hope TH reads this thread and gives us a little bump for our efforts.

I'm glad to hear that I've inspired hope. ...That's supposed to be my job as a Squad Leader, y'know. My job, however, is not to actually MAKE the things happen but to help with the communication to the devs and hope for the best. There are some good signs, tho. A concrete example of the devs officially listening to Player response is coming with the Vehicles... The "Star Warsy" correspondent pointed out a continuity discrepancy in the difference between vehicles, and it IS being changed accordingly.

Yeah, unfortunately it appears the MindHeal ship has sailed, however there is a New Hope on the Horizon... There are some signifigant changes currently being tweaked with on Test Center that effect HAM costs and usage. Everyone is more than welcome to check it out for themself, but you should keep in mind that the change on TC is ONLY a test for this sort of change it is by no means an indication of how things will be Live. They are mostly wondering how this mechanism "feels". Give ita try. ...and btw, I'm pushing as best I can for this sort of change to especially workto benefit the Squad Leader profession. Can't get promises, but at least I can get noticed!

I was never a fan of the proposal to let Squad Leaders heal Mind Damage in the field, but I did voice an strong opinion a while back that we should offer a tremendous buff to Focus & Willpower in order to help mitigate the associated Mind loss & regeneration rates. If they won't throw us that bone, then perhaps a HAM cost reduction is the next best thing. I am perhaps biased in that sense because I am also a Carbineer. But theyhave to give us something. We have to offer some tangible effect that gives a group of combatants led by a Squad Leader a significant edge over the same group being led by aNovice Chef, and right now we don't have it.

Actually my idea was to take advantage of the new HAM system and get a buff for the rate at which ability points regen. The dev said this was possible but gave "no comment" as to who might get this ability.

The SquadLeader is a jack of all trades personaly.

Most of us are other professions besides just those necessary to get SquadLeader.

Me, I'm also a Master Artisan, Realy Noice Medic, and have all the pistol and 2 of the rifle skills from Marksman.

I know I'm not the best at killing though tough mobs, but Meatlumps cerainly fear me. hehe

We shoudl be able to do maore than any other profession out there, we need more than 6 active abilities. (Yes thats counting the ones that dont work too, what about half of them?)

While I would love to have the Mind Heal Ability, it would make allow us to heal our own mind at the cost of our mind if you catch my drift here.

/volleyfire should make everyone fire on one target, so we wouldn't have to do the old /sysgroup \#FF1111 FIRE ON %TT. trick any more (Make a macro for it, it'll save time)

/Coverfire would be really good as an area effect attack. It would allow us to affect those pesky TKA that come charging in to kill us in one hit.

The bunker idea is just to nice to have, the devs most likely wont think that far into it and say NO. If they actually thought about it for more than 2 seconds they would see that it would drastically improve the capabilites of us during PvP Battles against opposing factions and guilds. Think of it this way no more run and gun battle where both sides end up speread out over to large of an area (Unless your team is good and sticks together, most aren't due to not doing it often enough)

Want another good idea?

How about a skill that a master SquadLeader has that will allow members of their teams to do the special attacks while mounted.

Heres another one.

Being able to use our abilities while mounted would really be nice. We use the mounts to get to hard to reach places fast. Let us be able to use them while we are mounted so that we dont have to waste time getting off the Kaada, then using our skills to better the group.

Also a general drop in HAM cost would really make our day, might even make it so we don't try to bite the heads off any Dev that comes with in range of us.

I'm glad to see you noticed that. I just finished writing a request...well, I think it would be better called abawlzout BEG for something just like that that!
