But the question still exists... what will we be getting?
The devs have been really quiet the last two weeks. I'd like to know what's going on with the SL revamp, or if it's even still on the schedule. I remember seeing this on the schedule for Publish 10.

Oh yeah, it is over because of that kind of attitude. Because you and 20 clones just like you said the same thing. Few of us tried to talk sense into you, but no one would have it. Your imaginations took hold and you thought we would be turned into carbon copies of CH but just with NPCs. No, adding a couple of extra slots didn't make sense, but building forts and calling in bombers, BY GAWD, that was crystal clear.
And Panzer, they might suck now, but who knows how they will be in the Combat Release. Maybe in the Combat Release they will be awsome and worth having period. No one knows what will happen, Armor nurf, Buff nurf, Combat nurf... everything nurf.Maybe that Trooper will be equal to a Master Carbineer in damage, maybe the AI will use their attacks better. Maybe the Faction NPCs will be pretty dang cool and now we are screwed because our Profession is the only one that makes sense that would allow the control of more troops than anyone else!
Hey, I never said add abilities or change trees, I just wanted two extra slots.
We would have wasted no tree slots, we would have lost /nothing/. So what if they are worthless after the patch. Then don't buy any. If your a Reb you have no faction followers now, don't you think they will fix that??? And you Imps, so you have your AT-ST and nothing else. Gee, 2 wasted slots...big difference 2 more will do.
Only thing we wasted was a potential oppertunity. We lost an option. Why did we lose this option? Because people say the /current/ incarnation is worthless. Does anyone have the foresight to /think/ that the new ones might be /better/? That they will be fixed? Jumping Jesus, Faction does not revolve around us, but /every/ player Profession. A Dancer can use a AT-ST, a ID can have 3 Commandos. But a Squad Leader... you know, the guys that lead groups... well, they are the same as that Dancer and ID.

Way to be a sore loser, BlkTom. I suggest reading this. Extra NPCs was never an option.

As for what we will be getting... GreenMarine told me at FanFest that his ideal plan for the SL revamp would be to go back to the drawing board and completely redesign every single skill box to make it significant and useful. It's light on specifics, but still makes me feel good about the end result.

I am not upset about /not/ getting the NPC slots, I am upset that it was tossed to the side and discarded as an option. And the guy from Jump to Lightspeed, God, that is the dumbest answer I have heard, one devoid of explaination. That guy just proved my point about people not considering anything and just jumping on a band-wagon.
Guess what, we lead NPC's now AND we lead people. At the end of the day, I like many other Imps just use a AT-ST. I have two Medic Troopers that I never use as well. But my AT-ST is better thana Architect'sAT-ST, my crappy Troopers are better than a BH's Troopers all because I am a SL.
Options are of prime concern because instead of tweaking what we have now to work and be more effective, a new guy is comming in and just scrapping everything. I don't know about you, but starting over from scratch and trying to work out the bugs of a totally new system than trying to work with the system we have had for a year does not make me any more comfortable. At least we know the strengths and weaknesses of our Profession right now. Most of us enjoy this Profession as it stands.
I would be much more happy if they just created new Professions based off of SL and just fix our version of SL and leave it. I have suggested that in the past that they make a Officer Profession (need Rank and Combat xp)and a Combat Engineer Profession (Artisan and Combat xp). Others can be created, like aFlight Leader Professionfor fighters since our current incarnation has all readybeen told that we do not effect ship pilotsin Jump to Lightspeed.
So no Influenza, I am not upset that it didn't happen, I am upset because the option was lost to what I preceive as short-sightedness.

That was the whole reason I never threw the idea out. Even though I didn't agree with the idea I still kept it in mind and added it to the list of proposals. I tried to come up with compromises and new uses. Something still may come out of it.
I am glad that they said we will not be "NPC Handlers". I don't mind getting some sort of NPC pet bonus though.

Wrong.
I can kill a whole unit of NPCs with just 2 strafes. What would you consider weak? Killing them in half a strafe? One shotting them with auto attack?
NPCs are a waste in PvP. And they are not really good in PvE either (not to mention you can't even use them in PvE)

I don't see why it would hurt to let SLs have Factional NPC squads. I mean we get the group bonuses by grouping pets to ourselves, weak as they are, why shouldn't we be able to ?
Granted not as a power or ablility like CHs persay, but what would it hurt ?
