E-web blaster is the heavy artillery lase cannon that the snowtroopers were setting up in Echo Base to attack the Millenium Falcon. They are major as they can punch through starship shields.

According to the dynamics of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game (I can't believe Decipher lost that license, urgh!) and some EU information, you need a fusion generator or a power droid to operate it. Woo hooo! A use for a droid!

My only request is that while we may not be the best (probably a Commando would) at *firing* the weapon, we do at least have the option

No fun carrying a mortar cannon if you have to ask someone else to pull the trigger for you...

By "HAving the option" I mean either giving the SL a cert but minimal bonuses to actually firing it. Or if some other class like Commando or Marksman is the only one that can fire it, make sure it's a class that a SL *could* get. Maybe require 2 people to use it, one to load & one to fire.. or one to aim/paint targets (Laser Guidance anyone?) and one to fire.

Basically, I'ld like to be more than a walking military storage shed.

Would be awesome to pop one or two of these up in a high-tech field base though... Mobile military base Woudl make the GCW alot more interesting, have the equivalent of 2 faction bases duking it out 100m from each other

Here's my thing, any other elite profession has items specific to them (LLCs, Elite Pistols, Stim D's for medics, and other things) I see your points about letting commandos have special squad weapons, but I was thinking that a special SL weapon that opnly SLs can use would make the profession more fun me ME as a player. although we are a group profession, what's wrong with giving us a special weapon? I just think that It'd be only usable when grouped. that would justify it as a SL weapon.

Or balance it, however you want to phrase it. also the specials would mostly be area effect weapons. hitting the things that your squad members are killing. that way we'd get to help the squad, but then we could also be of use in combat, after all, we are a hybrid combat profession. the entire ranged weapon support tree means that we've been in ALOT of combat, and we have killed alot ourselves. To me, this means that we can handle a blaster fine, without a commando.

oooOOOoo.. I didn't think of that.. This is the perfect extension of the Ranged Support line.

We need Heavy Duty Support Weaponry. Capable of large-scale suppression fire, status effects, AoE attacks, etc. Weapons that pretty much suck against solo enemies, and can't really kill anything by themselves, but absolutely rock when you have other people to attack with you & are cleaning out large mob's (caves, lairs, theme parks etc).

This needs to be on the Top 5

I was thinking along the lines of "hits any target in range that a squadmate is currently in combat with" mabye with knockdown, or bleed shot, or something.

This is what happened with CH and is what forced the complete reworking of that profession... I'm just trying to mip that problem in the bud before it starts.

I would suggest that their be a "Novice" (or low tier)SL weapon as well as a "Master" SL weapon as proferred in Thunderheart's recent Combat change announcement. This way, as we advance through the profession, we have a weapon to begin with, but we unlock the true power for serious KILLIN' with Master Squad Leader.

By the way, I'm a big fan of this idea and am including it in the next "Top 5".

yeah I kinda got that feeling from your responses hehe... just wanted to make sure we looked at it from a "big picture" point of view. Adding a weapon to this class would be a large departure from our current state, and the ramifications of doing so need to befigured from all angles.

yup this would be cool... but one word of warning: we couldn't have a powerful SL only weapon in only one skill tree. It would have to be at master, or require top tier skills in all 4 trees or else we would have dabblers come get the SL profession solely for the purpose of using these uber weapons and NOT to be actual leaders of a squad.

That I would have to agree with... If we want hvy squad based weapons, fine.. But make them on the top tiers of the profession. Lets try to avoid getting the dabblers the CH's are constantly plagued with.

Dabbling to get the M60 or the E-Web isn't really going to work too well as it will require more than one player to operate, and it could be that the Squad Leader isn't one to operate the weapon at all, they just bring it to the fight and "supervise". Actually, I think we should have a fairly active role in the use of these weapons, but it's absolutely not a Solo effort.
