I'm not quite sure why it's a problem people use assist in PVP. On Bria, at least for my guild, and any other avid pvping guild, it is standard procedure to have everyone assist one person who we call the "target caller" to--obviously--call targets on people we feel are important to the other group.

And even if for whatevergod awful reason the devs decide to "nerf" this feature,we simply call out the target over TS and we call attack that person (which is what we do most of the time). Now usually this is effective in small, to medium scale fights. In many large ones, or in the case that the enemy clusters themselves, we call out who we think would be able to tank our DPS the best in the group and use him to focus AOE DPS fire on him, and everyone around him.

And this is before I got Volley Fire and use that on top of target calling.

I think this "lame tactic", some call, should really be called "team work". Get over it, and adapt.

talking in TS to call a target is much different then just macro attacking through 1 person. with a called target on TS there is a responce time int he players action a thought proccess in their action but with someone attacking through someone there is no delay in the action. you cannot defend yourself against 8 people unless you call running from a fight defending. I am not calling a nerf I cam calling a balance, as of right now you have a walking death squad that can only be beat if your group gets a luck shot in a fast db, I am a Sl I dont call targets with a /sys Attack %TT and /volleyfire macro but that is dependant on team work not an auto attacking feature. Its great to see people working together it really is but there is a big difference in working together and /autofollowing one depends n your personal skills the other depends on you just attacking through your leader no change in attacks no timing involved no decisions being made just a constant spam of dervish and spin attack or strong attacks/AoEs from normal toons. I love my proffession SL is great and I love to play the part but to have to tell my group run or bend over and take it is not something I want to do I like to go down fighting I like to save my group in a sticky situation large scale pvp is awsome but this assist mobing is going too far.

Are the other 7 people in your group AFK? Thats what makes it "lame tactic". if they are ATK I give them more credit, if they are AFK then they should be banned.

I have seen both afk and atk but the point is it can be done both ways its depressing

The idea of having 7 AFK bots to attack with one person is a new on me, but things like that won't last long at all against my group. Now assuming these bots are on follow and staying close as others have said, I'd approach it by either doing AOE DPS on them, or we use a CC (crowd control) which usually have smuggler/commando to use an AOE gun to apply AOE concussion shot mezzes on the group and take out one at a time. In the mean time that's why we have dedicated healers, or at least 4000 CM's have bacta spray macros going in our group to help mitigate some of the DPS being put on us.

If you're trying to solo pvp, or even pvping with 2 or 3 other people, stop trying to kid yourself that you should even have a shred of a chance against a well prepared group. These AFK groups you speak of can be taken down if you have the right stuff. Like I said. Adapt.

and if you dont have a mezzer you dont have a commanod/smuggler if you dont have someone who can do that your saying a group full of pistoleers or a group of melee people cant play anymore? its not their falt this system allows a group to take them out because they cant do anything about whats happening when a group just insta incaps you even if a teammate gets a heal off your just gonna get tripled again. yes you will have to adapt to this new form of combat if you even want to call it that but this is a way of combat that cannot be defeted unless you have just dumbluck or you have a fully equiped team of healers/mezzers/powerplayers. Personaly i refuse to use this combat style to win where is the fun? I like a huge fight with 8 on 8 everyone going at it but when you got a mass or people 8 on 1 because you were the unlucky one rooted by the blob of death what are you supposed to do?

even with a synthsteak and all the buff foods you can eat you cannot heal or stim fast enough for the dmg that is being put out, take a group of 5.. those 5 are all using an attack roughly 550 dmg per person, that is 2750 dmg being done to you every second or every 1.5 seconds depending on the template and attachments, then you factor in lag. there is absolutly nothing you can do about this, good planing on their part you could say, they all worked together to auto follow their group member and tanked through an entire fight. but what did you win from this you killed the group pvping I wouldent go overt again if thats all thats gonna happen just getting rolled like that there is no fun in it.

Well, it's up to you. Some people have to make sacrifices for the betterment of the team and/or guild. Being this is the SL forum, and the revamp has yet to come out yet, I think most people understand where I'm coming from.If you refuse to use team-based combat to its full potential, then you better accept that you will always get rolled angainst the better team.

Pistoleers have the potential to root people in place, and get the melee people to get in there and armorbreak, and KD the target, then DPS with the ranged and melee. But if you only have a group of pistoleers and melee people, then beprepared to get rolled everytime when another force that can counter your strategy comes up.

one main thing to reply to you, some people pvp for fun, they head out to enjoy the fight, this isnt about adapting to combat aka running or succumbing to this BS, this is about ruining the one thing that is actually fun, working HARD to kill another overt group, and then going on to do it again! exploits are annoying, and 99% of the people in the game are jerks, especially on Bria, where the imps outnumber rebels so abd tis not funny, leaving nothing but these imp. power pvp afk monstrosities to wipe the field clean and deny rebels an aspect of the game. though i used rebels in this example, it works for whatever side has the disadvantage on your server... now there are going to be whole parts of the game cut off because of a huge group of @$$es

Too many tears, less adapting. Fun means different things for everyone. Fun for me and my teamis working with my team mates in defeating the enemy in guild war/SF battles. And we do just that. It doesn't matter how many hand outs and requests for nerfs of various things that get you killed--the team, or person who utilizes what works for certain situations and work to defeat the enemy, will always kick the butt of someone looking for a hand-out victory because they can't utilize their abilities properly. And that guy who can't win because he doesn't know what he's doing, will always cry for a nerf to the point this game might be so dumbed down, that guy might even get lucky and win once every blue moon.

And I so happen to be one of those few rebels on Bria.

We have had people on my server post saying they have fun by griefing other people.

Well all do have different views on fun, but idiots like these should have minimal effects to games not ruin them for alot of people.

You get that in every game. There are games out there that are much more hardcore than this game, and have a lot of potential to "grief" other players. Yet, people still get by because they learn the ropes and adapt to the environment and deal with it accordingly.

And the people that say they have fun griefing other people probably like it because of the whiney reponses and hate tells that they get. Tell the afflicted victims to stop giving such a reaction and maybe they'd actually take the winds out of the griefers' sails. Then again, I don't play on your server, so I'm no expert as far as what goes on there. Really, it's up to your server to deal with it. I really just wish people would look for solutions in-game, rather than cry on forums everytime something doesn't go their way in battle. Yeah, there's has been some pretty game-breaking stuff out there, but this AFK squad nonsense can be easily countered, so long as you find the means to do so. AFK squads or not, people should not be SHOCKED when 8+ people are hitting you at the same time and you drop like a rock.

Ill admit i have never personally experienced the AFK group deal, but we have had a recent increase in credit farmers, each group is banned on site for each city it seems to far. But the AFK grouping like this will cause its fair share of trouble in some way.

Tonight I ended up banning 3 groups of credit hunters. I asked each group if they wanted me to take the mission terminals away, not one group answered. One asked me "way?" I told him "to go straight and make 4 lefts". He said "oh". lol
