Squad Leader Archive
Thread: Dual weapons.
Its friday sylow, just a few hours till weekend.
Hehe... i already noticed. Even considered to remove the sarcastic part of my posting again... but, heck, i kinda like it...
If you got to much energy go here Squad leader issues and help sorting them out ...
Took a look over them. I consider adding concussion and flashbang grenades into the list, as just adding them doesn't hurt the document at all.
The thing which i find harder to get in the suggestion that the SL himself can change faction standings of teammembers, this passage works against it:
Small Faction Trench Base: I noticed that somone suggested that they would like squad leader to be able to change faction states, instead how about a terminal in these bases where group members could go into special forces? This base would last for an hour, even if people are in it or not, and it would cost 200 or so faction points from a recruiter. I dont think that
So if i now add the "allow MSL to change factional status of the complete team", this is somewhat contradictive.

Ah, yes... now i remember, all the great scenes..
When Leia fired a volley of blaster bolts on the stormtrooper boarding party before she was stunned in ANH.
When Han Solo drew his two pistols and then in wild kung-fu style killed his way through rows of stormtroopers on the Death Star in ANH.
When Luke wielded his two lightsabers for the standoff against Darth Vader in ESB.
When Lando blasted Jabbas Thugs to hell with his two pistols in RotJ.
When Leia used her two stolen scout blasters to teach the scout troopers on Endor a lesson in RotJ.
Aye... i now manage, to remember, yes... duael wield is totally starwarsy.
And without sarcasm: I am sorry, dual wield fits fine into any Hongkong movie, the Matrix and some other stuff in similar style. In Starwars, dual wielding is (usually) not what you see around, and i really don't miss it. I guess there's too much request for it within the "cool dudes" playerbase to completely ignore it, but please, just give it to those people and let the "professional" classes continue fighting in a decent way.
It is a style of combat used in the SW movies. Go on about how it isn't SL, but to go on about it not being SW? I think Lucas would beg to differ. (and yes I saw you said "usually" but still....)
and I am sure that had Han picked up a pistol in the death star instead of a carbine....he would have been using 2. ![]()
What I hope is that all our promiment SLs here will have a look at that list and help sorting and fleshing those ideas out as well as discussing them either here, or on the discussion page at the wiki.
Hmm... i'll use the time before the prominent ones turn up to then add the thing i see missing.
Back on topic, nope I didnt added dual wielding to the list of things SL should get but if anybody wants to add it feel free to do that ...![]()
True, Wiki allows that... but also allows me to then add that this is a request under discussion with low probabilty to really be wanted. We then can struggle some time to come to a final conclusion.
Edit: i just went over the Wiki thing, status:
modified: Boostmoral in Issues with current skills and abilities
modified: Retreat in Skills and abilities that need improvement to be usefull
modified: Volley Fire in Skills and abilities that need improvement to be usefull
added: Grenades in Items and Weapons
added: ability to change factional status in Abilities
And i successfully resisted the overwhelming urgeto clean out some things which i personally find to be useless or make little sense. ![]()
Another Edit: i just noticed that volley fire, rally, formup and retreat were totally missing in the guide section...
I just fixed that issue, please take a look if you like it better or not.
Anyways, if you think what i made is a mess, just let me know and/or feel free to correct it. ![]()
