Here is the squad leader skill tree form the test center yesterday. Looks pretty good to me assuming the skills will be updated later. The new pistols and combat xp will be a lot harder to earn, especially at Master. But the 3 weapons certifications and ranged/melee defenses look great!

So now it requires Pistol XP to gain skills?

The skills are nice though, will make Sls way more useful.

I do not agree with the Assault armor cert. seems this should be more of a commander in the rear of the battle who would have to be more worried about energy damage than kinetic

in my mind, it will depend on your playstyle and possibly the situation. Currently i am going for MPistols / MSL with some medic; when we group i tend to stay back and add some ranged fire but am more of a support role. i think i will change my template to be able to lead my troops from the front lines, so to speak. not sure how i'll do it yet, but i want something with some punch to it! maybe add a dash of melee to the mix. in this case, Assault Armor will be great....or i could go rifles to get certs for both assault and recon armors then coulduse either depending on the situation.

in any event, the CU is still pretty vague and many things might get changed. but as it looks now, i'm glad i picked SL!

Quite the opposite, i predic squad leaders will be some of the players that will go into the thick of the battle, cuz to be a good leader, you have to motivate your troops by being there and commanding them.

Yes it does, but the group terrain neg only applies when the SL is the leader of the group.

Thanks Ackehece. I've actually been a squad leader for 6 months but I just got around to joining the forums. I'm so happy to finally get some changes to squad leader. I thought I would share what I learned on test center.

Yep, seems strange to me to that SL XP would be Pistol XP :/

What about carabineer and rifleman SL?

It needs to be either SL xp and combat xp or a general weapon xp and combat xp. It is not fair to force ppl to get pistol xp, especially the melee. I like the combat xp requirements, it will make SL less of a cake walk.
