Thread: We should count our blessings. Well, blessing, actually.

Ya know, strolling over to the forums for some of themore popular (read: useful) professions, I noticed that the attitude from some posters there differ sharply withmost here. You know, the usual angsty posts and subsequent flamesabout how their already uber profession is always under attack by "nerfs" (nevermind that they can kill scores of folks and critters without even putting themselves in harms way), or that the newestenhancement to the profession doesn't work as well as they'd like it to (and nevermind that it was an addition that the devs were considering giving us Squad Leaders, but then threw it to an already overpowered class).

So I dunno, I suppose we oughta count our blessing that most of us here on this forum are civil and relatively reasoned as we discuss and debate matters. Maybe shared misery builds some sort of common bond and common respect.

Or maybe it's just that angsty uber-d00d types don'tpicklargely gimped professions with abilities that are, for a large part, useless. There simply aren't enough of them here to drag the level of discussion down to their level. And there simply aren't enough of us Squad Leaders herefor us to act pissy towards each other. I think that's the single best thing that's come out of all this. Hugs for all.

Yeah, I'm being facetious.

Heres to hoping our patience and civility may actually one day lead to a somewhat useful profession.

Heh. You read the combat medic forum too, eh? Somebody really needs to get a Waaambulance in there!! Poor Combat Medics, after they reduce everyone in a group of 20 down to a single mind pointwithout getting a TEF--they actually have to get within 64m and use a <gasp!> weapon to finish off the kill. If that weren't bad enough, /mindheal isn't even free!! Cry me Lokian river.

Okay, I best not be flaming. Maybe CM's don't need a good walloping from the nerf bat... I should actually keep my mouth shut because if a good and solid fix doesn't come quickly for Squad Leaders, I think that Combat Medic is the profession of choice for someone who wants to lead groups. The ability to toss AoE diseases is a HUGE help for any group, and AoE heals and heals from a distance would let a smart leader-type to keep a good eye on the battlefield from a decent range and still contribute.

Maybe "Carabinier" isn't the only misspelled profession in the game. I think somebody accidentally misspelled Squad Leader "Master Combat Medic"

I have also noticed that everyone on this forum seems very civil.

I recently got to be a Squadleader after far, far too much camping and well it seems to have no real benefits apart from feeling quite rare. Still I have a good bunch of friends who play as well and they let me lead the group because I am 'special'

But yes SL seem to be a lovely bunch of chaps.

In an effort to be constructive. Here are some ideas I had while avoiding work. feel free to flame etc.

Squad shield generators that only a squad leader can use, works like a normal shield generator but requires batteries and the such like. Provides the entire group with +10% resist.

Weakpoint spotting: sort of like knowing that the deathstar has a exhaust port, the SL uses this command and the squads next attacks on a BUILDING do more damage. This is mostly because we seem to spend half an hour just shooting a smalll shed after we have killed all the soldiers.

erm I should at least pretend to do some work.

cheers

I think you guys that post here are great. I know that I've gotten into some heated discussion recently with some {Elguapo, and a few Rangers} but I try to keep it civil, and mature. I guess I expect the same from others as well.

I guess we are just a rare bread of gamer, maybe its a good thing our profession is like this, after months of being useless the only ones that have not dropped SL have to be the real deal. its help to weed out those that probably wouldnt make very good leaders even if we have useful working skills.

How do you improve the entire game, and one of the more useless professions at the same time? Well this is a start: Help Support the http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=squad_leader&message.id=10609>Fortification Proposal

Yup, just 1 to go!

It's one thing to maintain civility on a board for a broken and under-used profession that's basically the real-life equivalent of a circus midget guild. It's entirely another to maintain the same civility when circus midgets start making 6 figure salaries.

I don't post here much but i do read until i get tired of every post descending into a whine fest about how the Profession is ignored by the DEVs. Even the posts that have helpful comments or discussion are quickly overwhelmed with endless ramblings about how the whole world would be better if a DEV would only do something for squad leaders.

Now before you thrash me for being some holo-hunter, know that I had made the choice to be a squad leader from my first day in beta 2.

I would just ask that we not pollute topics that may actually help each other and keep the "DEV HELP US" posts separate.
