Don't be that defeatist. We'll see Tiggs back here.

She jumped about 15 professions to come down here anyway. She's only on the "C"s with her "getting to know you posts".

SL hasn't been on the radar screen for a while now - but we've been promised a full revamp, and while the Devs do take their time to get around to things (see the Smugglers), they've never promised a profession a revamp and failed to do it.

Just popping in to say hello to all of the SL's! I have been reading your forum and I see many negative threads. So I want to ask you what is it about Squad Leader that attracted you to make one? And what is your motivation to continue with thisprofession? Be nice in your replies

YIKES! Alert Alert! Tiggs in the SL forum... and she's the thread author at that!

I took up SL cause it sounded fun, the whole group leadership and in-charge of large group hunts sounded great. I've kept it because I enjoy it, the profession is that great but it is fun if you're intellegent about it - my guild and brother-guild love having me along on hunts because of my abilities (both SL and rifles) and I know how to make use of them. The profession could use work obviously, but for some people it seems a real good fit depending on your defination of MMO fun.

And welcome back, don't feed the BH/Pistoleer/TKA troll-noob.

Masochism?

(Sidles away back into the night)

Seriousely, Squad Leader is a great idea for a profession, btu with the rise of Uber Buff's and Armour has become virtually useless as no one hunts in groups anymore. But like all professions, people want to be one. Why? How long is a piece of string? Why have I stayed a Bounty Hunter when I can barely hunt a crippled old granny let alone a Jedi? It's becuase thats what I want to be, and the people here want to be a Squad Leader (So basically I want to kill people for money and they want to boss them around!)

Some JTL contant for Squad Leader would be FANTASTIC.

(Edited cos it made even less sense the forst time!)

I like groups. Playing a multiplayer game solo seems silly to me. At the time, everyone used to tell me that Squad Leader was a useless to have but, looking at the skill trees, it seemed to give lots of nice advantages to forming a group. Now I find it much easier to get a group together for a hunt (or join in to one already hunting). Yes, I don't get much benefit from my skill point usage but I don't care too much about that (otherwise I wouldn't combine SL with Ranger). I do get the ability to join up with other players to have fun. That is what really pulled me in and keeps me here.

The holocrons made me master Squad Leader, but they couldn't make me keep it.

When I heard there would be a squad-leader profession available in SWG it was the very first thing I wanted to be. Leading ag roup and being a valuable assetwas what I expected from that profession. It was the first profession I mastered and I actually kept it for 3 or 4 months when I noticed I was wasting valuable skillpoints for a profession that only has a value for role-playing... Squad-Leader is simply not as usefull in a group as other professions are (you don't even need that "god-voice")...

And when the XP needed to become SL were nerfed into hilariousness it wasn't even cool to run around with the "Master Squad-Leader"-tag as everyone and his Durni could master in a day what took me several weeks. Then came mounts and speeders and no one needed terrain negotiation - and when we were promised a revamp for the umpteenth time my patience finally wore off: I dropped Squad-Leader, never regretted it since and it is unlikely that I will ever touch it again...

The negative threads by the way are due to the fact that squad-leaders never hear anything about their profession - nothing, nada, zip... Just some vague promises for the distant future...

Hope that was nice enought?

At ease soldier!

Well, I made myself a Squad Leader, and plan to continue to develop him since I always liked the idea of being able to support a group in some way. As a medic I was always a bit too locked in a specific role for my taste, and hence it felt like a natural step to move on to SL, as I in this profession may help the group both through direct combat and indirect bonuses. Since I've always had my best gaming experiences in this game together with large groups of other people, working together towards some common goal, I doubt I'd find a more suitable profession for me and my character.

Thanks for stopping by Tiggs. I PMed JustG about the negativity on the Squad Leader forum because I hate to see a profession with great potential lose all of its voices, and therefore become even more screwed.

I think I made a Squad Leader because I needed to humble my gaming experience. I use to be like everyone else, all about the uber PvP template and helping no one but myself. I think that though this profession is extremely underdeveloped, I am having more fun than I have ever had (over the last several months).

My main motivation to keep SL is I don't want to fall back into that idea that I have to chase the best template. I also LIKE being one of the rarest professions in the game (more rare than Jedi even). I can't really be honest and say that my abilities are the main reason I keep Squad Leader, though some have proved quite useful (we aren't worthless like some would believe).

I know the Combat Balance is far off but I really wish you could just throw us a bone or two. Just something. How about making volley fire actually change the object targetted, instead of just firing one shot at it and peacing out. That is something nice and simple that I think would help the profession and ease some of our minds (and maybe give some hope to those dropping SL).
