Ok guys,

I have less thank 6k left to get my novice SL. I am mostly going for this profession for my guild to group better.

Thoughts please, good bad, waste of time?

I cannot recommend that you pursue Squad Leader given the current problems with the profession. According the devs, Commando is their top priority followed by Teras Kasi Artists, and then Droid Engineers. Your special abilities will fail 75% of the timeand I have yet to see any conclusive evidence that our passive abilities work either.

Sorry, I'm sure this wasn't the response you were hoping for.

I was hoping for a response to lead me into or out of SL.

I am, like I said above, doing this primarily for my guild to group better.

If they fix one class, they will fix this one, so patience is a virtue

I just hope i have a lot of patience

Thanks

I achieved SL last night

I am feeling both elated at the achievement and deflated at the ROI (return on investment). An investment banker with this ROI would be found in his attic hanging from a beam by his necktie.

I will continue trodding through it, however. My hope is that by the time I reach master SL, the profession will be fixed. If it isnt, I will find another game (WoW, MEO, Jedi Academy all come to mind).

I will *not* waste months to achieve mastery in an elite profession to find it completely worthless and ignored because the devs fix stuff based on which profession has the most crying babies.

See that is EXACTLY why I started this thread, for those types of comments

which I completely agree.

why should I waste my time on a profession, get what I need, blood, sweat and tears, and they are utterly worthless because the 14 year old, immature, crybaby is complaining about his profession not being strong enough and leaving the Squad Leader profession hanging by its balls while the dev's work on all classes but ours.

oh well, like said, I hope I do not master a worthless profession

Hey JD. Nice to see another Intrepid guy on here. I'm actually considering this profession for most of the same reasons you are. Our hunting trips to Endor are turning into a fairly regular occurance so I was looking to become an SL for the benefit of our group. The way I'm looking at it though is that I'm not really out anything if I don't like it. Since SL uses it's own form of xp for advancement, if you do a lot of grouping, there's no real reason not to pick it up. If you change your mind later, you're not really out anything, since your playing habits won't have changed that much. You'll still have a surplus of weapon xp and combat xp to distribute with your surrendered skill points if you decide you hate it.

Hi, I'm pretty high up in SL, the passive terrain/burst run skills are nice, it keeps a squad near eachother and it's important noone gets lost or left behind.

Volley fire is pretty good, tho it fails more than others, however I have yet to acquire my Volley Fire +10 bonus. I'm also human which grants me an aditional +10 to leadership which helps with these commands.

Rally works almost every time for me and seems to increase the entire squads ability to hit, the damage it does, and more effectively - the defense of the individual. allowing the medics to fight more instead of healing. And Steadyaim works as described 100% of the time, if you have a commando with a heavy weapon that misses a lot, then use steadyaim, it works!

Squad Leader is an effective profession, even with the bugs, it just takes a bit of patience and imagination. Even if you cant get the skills to work, be the first man out there an take some hits for your squad, give them an example to follow. Morale is still in the mind of the individual playing.

Actually, from everything I've read, the Human Leadership +10 ability does absolutely nothing. The leadership attribute was apparently taken out before the end of the beta, and they simply have not removed it from the human description and modifier list. It does not affect anything.

There is also a good desciption on the skills/abilities guide (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=squad_leader&message.id=2482)

wirtten by Lensar as to why volley fire is generally less effective to use than just using one of your combat weapon skills. I havent really found SL to be an"effective profession" in anyway so far, and many other professions (specifically healers and combat professions) seem to be more beneficial to the overall effectiveness of a group than SL. In fact, I'd say the most beneificial part of having a SL in your group is that they are usually pretty good with a weapon, since they have to be in orderto gain SL xp.

I'm sure it will eventually be balanced, so if you have patience, it will probably (we all hope!) be a worthwhile profession. But if you are not into for the future potential, I would say you are better off spending your points in a more useful profession.

Well,

it seems that I have been shunned on my posts.

Not one reply, not even a remark.

We ARE in this game, right?

I did not make SL for them to ignore us, not even a post or acknowledgement on our post or forum.

hmm, makes me wonder how we rank in this game calledBroke Wars
