I couldn't help but notice that Slicing XP isn't in that list at all. That's 1/3 of our overall XP that's wasted. Putting Slicing in the Senses column would not only make sense (as it is governed by luck unless you're using clamps), but would make us viable in Force Sensitivity.

I wouldn't say it's wasted, it's just excess that we have no use for after slicing 4.

I'd like to find a use for it and thats why I'm bringing this up now.

Well, the excess once we hit master is what I was talking about. Excess Pistol XP (2 whole lines) can be used on FS stuff, Excess Spice XP can be used on FS stuff, but Excess Slicing XP is wasted. Sorry for not being clear enough

on a related issue:

I hope to unlock in the new system with my smuggler. However I have no intention of making him a jedi... I want my smuggler. (I just want the other character slot to play with).

For those of us who want to unlock and remain a (Force Sensitive) Smuggler... the Force Sensitive skills should have a benefit to OUR profession. Will Luck increase the odds of a higher % slice or something? Is there anything that help the profession of smuggler in there?

The combat stuff is a gimmie but that's a boon to all pure-combat professions. The Crafting stuff is a boon to all pure-crafting profession ... the healing is a boon to all healing professions ... but as you've said cayln I dont really consider myself these things.

The DEVs went back and ADDED Entertainer healing to be benefitted by the force sensitivity skills to ensure their actuall profession could have the boons of FS skills if they decided not to go out and become a full fledged Jedi.

Can we get some similar attention to our actual profession some how?

(I know I know ... historically the answer is no)

... which FS skills seem most smuggler like....depend on how "Luck" and "Pursuasion" actually impact a smuggler.

It seems blatantly obvious everything you pointed out Caylin. Why is it that we can see these problems clear as day, but the devs put their Smuggler-blinders on everytime they sit down to code?

It looks to me like the Slicing XP would easily be placed in the senses catagory, and then we would be all set.

Thinking about it.. the reason the Devs have the sumugger blinding blinders is probably something to do with the fact that they were tacked on at the end.. I'm guessing hardly any of them would have had anything to do with Smuggler, GreenMarine being the one assigned to cobble together something last minute with the tools available to him..

If that's the case, then it's no wonder we never get anything, because the rest of the devs are familiar with the majority of other professions, but the only one/s that're familiar with us are working on JtL and are not part of the live team.

Wow excellent post caylin. I know very little about jedi and the new path but ive been think alot about simply adding FS to my current toon while still staying a master smuggler and using the 2nd slot a a FS BH. Can someone please clear up the new path for me. Do you go to this village and do missions? is it badge driven? I know this is a little off the point but any help on this would be great because i have no idea how to even start to unlock with this new system.

Head on over to the Test Center Galaxy Forum. All the info any of the testers have found so far is there. I'm constantly reading it (in between doing actual work, since that's where I am right now, shhh!)

EDIT: Typos, grrrr.

Please forgive me ladies and gents, but I've gotta vent here a sec...

Howin the world could the Devs overlook Slicing xp for Force Sensitive: Heightened Senses? I sure hope this was just a simple mistake and not planned, because I'm getting pretty ticked off. The things that we've been asking for, for the last several months (Luck and Persuasion, I'm not counting Vehicle Control, even though most of us agree weshould haveit too) we find out are Force Sensitive skills... now we find out that we can't even HAVE THEM with our Slicing xp or anything else that our profession alone has? If there were ever two Smuggler skills, Persuasion and Luck are the two... which brings me back to, since when do Jedi even believe in luck?

Please, please let this be a simple overlooking of our profession... it wouldn't be the first time. Anyone remember the Imperial Crackdown incedent, Smugglers originally didn't get a scan evasion bonus until someone brought it up, I'm hoping this is the same thing, that we need only tap the Devs on the shoulder and suggest it.

P.S. Someone please tell me I'm not imagining that incident, that did happen, right? I've had a terrible memory lately, hehe

I think one of the reasons slicing xp isnt taken into consideration is because of the ease at which it can be grinded, Think about it, After you can slice weapons whats going to stop people from making crates of CDEF's and sit there slicing them all day long for FS xp.

The only way to compensate for that would be to have the FS XP convertion ratio something like 1:20.

I know many are going to say Combat xp can be grinded just as easier but my response would be no, not really as the most viable would be "combat xp" which has a 1:1 ratio and many will tell you thats a pain to gain xp in and not only that it carries a risk involved.

Crafting xp is easily grind-able to but not many proffesions can 250 xp for 1 item, the only thing that gets more then that is the architect which has a very high ratio.

Anyway this is all just food for thought......

It's not just combat XP, it's weapon XP, even at 10:1 I can make a much better attempt at grinding through than I could with slicing. There is simply no comparing a manual process like slicing to something as quickly obtained as weapon/combat xp. It's not just earning one type of xp, it's two at the same time.

Hook up squad leader and such and you are making an absolute killing at FS conversion XP. Slicing conversion will be slow as molasses compared to this.

I respectfullydisagree, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to convert Slicing experience into Jediexperience for Heightened Senses, in my opinion. Luck and Persuasion, most of usagree fit Smugglers perfectly and yet, at this point, we have no way to get them without picking up another profession.

We have to actually be at the keyboard to grind slicing experience in the first place, I thought theDevs were promotingat the keyboard play.I don't think you can say the same for entertainers, crafters or even combat experience... but I'm getting off topic.

With 2k+ buffs, 80%+ armors, etc. there is no risk to getting combat exp which you acrue along with your normal weapon exp unless you're trying to do it at the deathwatch bunker or corvette. If you have scout or ranger you also get scout experience along with combat and weapon experience compared to the other types of experience around. (easier to grind than slicing with mass credit making possibility)

Currently, as a master doc I get 1k+ experience every time I buff someone (no trouble finding long line of customers for that) and decent experience for using a stim on somemone which is vastly easier than slicing. I hit one fkey. (easier to grind than slicing with mass credit making possibility)

As a master rifleman I can hit the 900k rifle experience cap way before I could get 100k slicing experience. (easier to grind than slicing with mass credit making possibility)

As a tkm, swordman, fencer can all fly thru experience plus make crazy credits all at the same time and I'm sure if I went and experimented with the other professions I could come up with more examples to show you that slicing is on the lower end of experience grinding. (easier to grind than slicing with mass credit making possibility)

Now grinding slicing with cdefs, no money making there, big waste of supplies which would cost the smuggler money, slicing never grants more than 250 experience per item. Also a very monotonous way to get experience and carpal tunnel.

I find your logic is flawed but I'm not flaming you. I'm just trying to show you that your wrong if you think slicing is easy to fly thru the experience.
