I had re-created my character on TC2 just to find out this sort of thing; looka like you got further along and confirmed my fears.

When they first came out with the FS list I thought persausion and luck sounded like just the thing, but how do i get any real experience in things like creature handling without backtracking some skills?

Adding slicing in there makes perfect sense.

I'm guessing the reason slicing isn't in there is to do with the fact that if it were, luck and/or sense might actually have to do something to slicing... and that would involve them doing somethingSmuggler related.. even, hoh! change something. For some reason theyseem to have the mentality of "I'm not touching that thing with a bargepole" with Smuggler.. this seems to be noexception

Another thing I'd like to bring up, and please correct me if I'm wrong... Slicing has a cap at 100000 experience points, right? Just thought I'd bring that up for the people that seem to think it would be easy to exploit it... at a hypothetical10-1 ratio, that only gives 10k Jedi experience points to use in Heightened Senses.

As a Jedi I have the luck line. My main character is a Master Smuggler. I wouldn't pick up luck again if you paid me. The skill is completely useless. All it does is increase the chance that you LOOT credits from npc's that you kill. Not items but credits rather. Check the response in the in-game knowlege base for a description of it.

I agree that Luck should be a smuggler's skill. Perhaps we could push to have it increase our base chance during slicing. Meaning we would hit higher %'s for slicing than usual. Not going past the caps as it stands. Just a chance at more frequent 30% chances, rather than turning out 17% slices from time to time.

The lines of FS that will effect smuggler's the most shall be the combat and reflexes lines. Since these boxes only cost 1 sp each they are going to be a great way of adding to our weak bit of combat skills. You can't complain for spending 4 sp to gain 12 weaponspeed.

I'm curious, as publish 10 continues to be tested I have a slowly rising concern.

Those of you who are familiar with force sensitivity trees, what do you think would be the most 'smuggler' related lines within them?

I'll highlight the ones I feel 'smuggler' related in blue, but I'm curious what others feel as well.

We have:

Combat Prowess

  • Ranged Accuracy

  • Ranged Speed

  • Melee Accuracy

  • Melee Speed

Crafting Mastery

  • Experimentation

  • Assembly

  • Repair

  • Technique

Enhanced Reflexes

  • Ranged Defense

  • Melee Defense

  • Vehicle Control

  • Survival

Heightened Senses

  • Healing

  • Survey

  • Persuasion

  • Luck

Now the reason I'm asking is this. When I went to the FS village I was considered a fighting and crafting profession by the elder as a smuggler.

Well, ok... though I don't consider myself either one really

Then I went to what we know as the FS XP converting NPC. There I went and saw what types of XP I could convert into a FS nature. Out of all the trees I wanted to get up, Reflexes and Senses were at the top of my list.

Now of all XP I could convert there... (going to borrow some work done by daemons on TC)

Combat and Reflexes

All Weapons XP (rifle, unarmed, Polearm, etc) 1 for 10 Conversion Ratio

Combat XP 1 for 1 Conversion Ratio

Bounty Hunter InvestigationXP 1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

Squad Leadership XP 1 for 12 Conversion Ratio

Senses

Creature Handler XP1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

Merchant XP 1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

Image Design, Musician, Dancer, Ent HealingXP 1 for 7 Conversion Ratio

Scout XP1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

Wilderness Survival XP1 for 2 Conversion Ratio

Medical XP1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

Surveying XP 1 for 4 Conversion Ratio

Crafting

Medicine, BE, Armor and WeaponCrafting XP 1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

General Crafting XP1 for 8 Conversion Ratio

Structure Crafting XP1 for 30 Conversion Ratio

Spice Crafting XP1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

BE, Chef, Tailor and Droid Engineer Crafting XP 1 for 5 Conversion Ratio

I notice that I can easily gain access to combat and reflexes, but I'm completely SOL when it comes to senses.

I also noticed that I am unable to convert any additional Slicing XP into anything here.

So what it boils down to is this, am I wrong to think we should have a way to convert some form of XP that we have into Heightened senses?

I mean, what sounds more like a smuggler in SWG than Luck or Persuasion? Should I ask that we be able to put slicing into a senses conversion at the least?

Let me know what you think.

I think the main problem with this is that we don't have the XP type that we should by right have oodles of, namely, Smuggling XP. I don't really see what canbe done unless 1) The revamp happens, 2) They change the XP types needed to advance in Smuggler as it is now.

I agree with your logic, but can you explain how this works a bit. Do I do a quest, and then convert some of my current XP into Jedi XP? Should I start grinding some silly spice xp? Do I need any 24 boxes, or do I need to get mastery of one type?

I agree with you. Luck and Persuasion would be on the top of my list for Smuggler abilities. I think slicing XP should be in that section. Also vehicle control is another good one. Well, I've got 900k of merchant xp wasting away so that would help me personally but not every smuggler has a vendor. I guess the others are okay but again it really seems like they forgot about smugglers. What a surprise.

I was just wondering...where it says wilderness survival xp, 1 for 2 ratio, what does that mean? i'm totally new to this force sencitivity thingy they have coming out and i was just wondering how it works.

Sorry this is off-topic but if it was explained to me i could probably give you an answer...

And please don't flame.

My immediate answer, Caylin, would be yes. However, are they truly planning to change the type of xp we need in the revamp? If so that needs to be taken into consideration as well...

I 100% agree about the Smuggling XP, it was a real lament when I noticed this happening.

/agree But from what we do have slicing is random and therefore requires luck. I could see the slicing xp being converted in that area....if they remember us and put it there
