I keep hearing that you have to be a master smuggler to get the highest slices but I have yet to see anywhere other than from just players that there is a difference, If you look at the tech tree and leave arrow over it all that is says it that a master smuugler gets is reduced faction points. If thats the case why is everyone making a big deal about being a master smuggler, seems to me that It really makes no difference when it comes to slicing. I could be wrong but I would like to hear something from a dev on this or maybe someone knows where this info is. I just dont want to waste alot of time running up the tech tree for no real gain other than reduced faction points. Thanks in advance !

Actually the only proof is in the slicing results... Master Tend to get upper 20s to low to mid 30s while slicing IV and lower get MUCH MUCH less then that probabaly max out at 25%.

You won't find your answer in the skill tree friend.

Smugglers the galaxy over have reported that the high end percentage slice they get when they hit Slicing IV, actually seems to drop, to about the same or slightly lower percentage for weapons, as Slice 2!

However they report that the percentages jump back into the expected range when they hit Master Smuggler. The assumption is that Slicing IV is bugged in some way. So, as a result, peeps who want to learn the Slicing branch of the Smuggler tree, are nor pursuing Slicing any further than level 3, so that they can slice weapons AND armour, but not hit the bugged slice 4.

Lots of threads else where discussing this. I would suggest you pay partoicular attention to SanTsu's correspondant reports, to get the status on the latest issues for the Smuggler profession.

Otherwise, I'd say, you want to be in the ranks of the top Slicers, go get Master Smuggler.

Warhead...sorry i was a bit unclear...i meant that Master Smugglers should get the ability to choose, not that they already do

uhmm maybe I am tired but I believe he was suggesting that a MS gets to chose as an improvement to the class, not that it is that way atm. And BTW I would agree completely with all of it, not sure if me experimenting on spice or buying higher quality stuff to make it is helping or not.

I know it has been brought up before on to many occasions to count, but i am not sure if anyone has ever tried to justify why Master Smuggler is in need of revamp. Insomnia inspires me to put in my 2 cents.

Looking at the other professions ( pick any one you like...regular...hybrid...elite) the master ability in all cases is used to give a final bonus to the 4 trees of the line. Medics get new schematics, injury treatment, medicine use and injury treatment speed...all four trees..likewise with every other class i looked at (i'll admit i didnt look and every single one).

As it stands now MS receives a 15% bonus to faction costs. Yes it says 25%...but you earned the first 10% already back at underworld 2. My simple solution to resolving a few of the key issues with smuggler would be simply to add represent the other 3 trees in master smuggler.

Slicing (granted its fubar right now with the Slice 2 vs slice 4 problem)...Master Smugglers get the ability to choose which attribute to slice..along with some benefit to percentages.

Spices....i boldly assume, that spice experimentation will at some point...if it does not already...have some effect on the spices attributes, the down time etc. (i have heard that it does and doesnt work at reducing downer time...never tested it...cant say for sure). Once that is resolved additional experimentation points and perhaps a final spice schematic at master would be appropriate.

As for the dirty fighting chain the obvious would be to have a final fighting style under Master Smuggler. As for what the style would be or should do...i leave that to your imagination...feel free to post some ideas...i would love to hear them

Ability to choose?? am i just plain dumb since i never got an option for what i attributes i wanted to slice? I'm pretty sure thats not the case.. you're mistaken its still random but you get higher % of slicing

i hate it when people are inspecific.

tier 4:
weapons: 12-30%
armor: 9-35%

Master Smuggler:
Weapons: 14-35% (35 definate maximum, but i've heard reports under 14)
Armor: 10-45% (this is a little bit more of a toss-up, but i've heard 10% far more often than 45% in this case).

Thats wrong, I've gotten a 39% slice on a scout blaster before and I have heard reports of a 40% and above slice. So I guess the limit is probably 40 or 45 too.

Has there been any official statement that there is in fact a slicing bonus for masters? I wonder, why would there be, when it's not mentioned in skill box?

When did america lose it's way? When did we stop cheering for the guy with the flamethrower, or an acid-spraying gun of some type? I blame the internet, and the return of swing music.

If you got a weapon slice over 35%, then it must have been before the recent changes to how slicing works. They're no longer supposed to go over 35%. I know I haven't been able to get one thta high since the modification.

I have also not gotten below 15% weapon slices since then.

Armor is a whole different story though. It ranges from 10% to 45%. Luckily, I no longer get any single digit slices on armor. Thank the maker on that one!
