I contacted a master smuggler to slice parts of armor, he garanted me that all of his slice was better than 30%, I laught at him... But He was so sure about that, I thought that maybe there was a new trick, anyway there wasn't anyother smuggler in the area, so i gave to him my armor.
He annouced me each results which was all 30+ slice, enc or eff.
I took my armor back, i looked quickly the results, it appeared to be ok, but on of arm had strange result: it was before slice 69% base resist, and after 71%... I asked to the smuggler, he told me he had a message with 35% results, and don't care about my questions, he don't play to talk... etc, etc...
So, my question: is there sometimes slices buggs? why only a 3% slice?

That's not how slicing works. Lets take an example of armor set right at 50% effectiveness.
If you get a 15% increase, it doesn't go to 65%, its increased by 15% of the current effecitiveness, 50%. Thusly, a 15% increase raises the resistances to 57%. Now, I don't see how your friend could possibly only get a 3% increase, since the minimum increase for effectiveness is 11%, I believe.

I've never seen a slice below 10% from any smuggler. I'm thinking you just read the effectiveness values incorrrectly. If it's 71% now, the most it would have been before was 64% (easy to see how it can be confused). If, as the smuggler stated, he gave you a 35% effectiveness slice, the most it would have been was 53%.
What casts doubt of course is the guy guaranteeing a high slice. Every smuggler knows there are no guarantees without exploits - if the guy was using an exploit maybe this is the unforeseen consequence of it. Unfortunate for you, but remember that if something sounds too good to be true... it usually is.
There's one other possibility: Was the armor perhaps heavily damaged? Once its condition goes below 50% the resists decrease significantly. Double check that to be sure.

I m sure the base effectivness of the armor was 69%, all the parts i sliced was from the same serie of composite, other parts, sliced on enc, are still 69% efficient. And they are undammaged at all... So maybe an exploit (the smuggler told me he knew a way to have always 30% +...)

As for the math, he is correct, that would be a 3% slice.
I think he took you for a ride. If all the information was correct, he couldn't have been a master smuggler. I never payed attention to my suvival knife grind slices, but I was also under the impression that 11% was the lowest slice you could recieve at any point of weapon's slicing.
Perhaps he just took your armor and replaced it with another piece that he had in his inventory?
Sorry you dealt with a poor smuggler
But also, hey, we're suppose to be a bit shady

Well I have been a Smuggler for almost a year now and as far as I know the is no make 30+ every time.
Here is the min/max for slices at master level
weapon 11/35
Armor 11/45
now you can get below 11% when you are not a master.

I think it's never below 15% for weapons at any lvl in smuggler I don't remember goin' below 15 ever.

The smuggler had master smuggler as title, and the name of the arm was particular (soldier composite, something like that) so i doubt he exchanged for one he alrdy had (and anyway, it was just a bracer...)
Well , it was just a bracer so, but I just wanted to know if it alrdy happened to one of you.
Another explanation is that all the composite parts had same name, and apparently same serie, with 69% base, but maybe one part was lower eff, i can ' be sure at 100%... So it s maybe the reason why

11% is the min for master, I for some reason love that number when the slice is important. In any case Croquelune, the smuggler you dealt with played you for a fool. There is only one expliot (and I STRONGLY suggest you donnot request it from your smuggler) but as for that, slicing is random. And to be on the safe side in the future, don't seek smugglers that claim they can work the system. If by some chance they can they are explioting and that is a bannable offence.

I find this highly disturbing. Unless I read your original post wrong, it sounds like he tells you 30%+ on all slices, then when you actually check them, he tells you he doesnt have time to talk and blows you off.He is LYING to you and then says "get lost" when you call him on it. This is VERY SERIOUS to the smuggler community. He MUST be reported, as no one can guarantee 30%+ slices all the time. If you don't want to post his name here, then PLEASE post a warning on your server board. IF possible, tell a CSR and have them approach him anonymously.

Its funny how everyone is going on about how the %s are for effec on this. Its pretty clear what this guy's scam is. He says he will always get a 30%+ slice. People get excited. He slices a 12%. "You got a 32%." Who checks us? Most don't. They see numbers up or down and think "WOW" "KEWL" "U RoK Dude" The ones that do he throws the junk in there about "I don't play to talk" "You don't know jack about slicing" Etc.
While the 3% increase is interesting, it is likely that the %s were lower to begin with, or it was higher to begin with, and he failed the slice by screwing up how he read he clamp. If he lies about the rest...do you think he is going to admit to screwing up a slice?

The only way you can tell for sure that someone didn't exchange your armor for a slightly higher effective armor is keep track of all the serial numbers that you give someone. It's easy to change names, colors, and other traits and give someone a different piece. Especially when dealing with armor whose stats can be fairly close between suits.

Ya the lowest I have ever goten as a master smuggler is 11% and if it was 69% encum then that would have boosted your composite to 76% effect. So ya something is fishy. There is a chance he switched out on you or maybe you read the effectiveness wrong and it was something like 63% making a boost up to 71% more realistic.
Not to defend the guy.. there isnt a way to get 30+% every time so I dont know. All I can say is dont have him slice for you again and warn friends and such that they may not want him to slice for them.
