Thread: I was wrong about our revamp?
Thanks for ruining my day..

Turns out the passenger vehicle revamp takes priority over anything smuggler-related. Those guys deserve it too, they just work and work and never complain. At this rate the next revamp will be for those poor down-trodden player owned houses. Afterwhich a bank terminal revamp. Slicing? Smuggling? Oh no we cant be so selfish, they must have the jawa sidequest publish first because they have waited patiently too.
Thanks for ruining my day..
Passenger vehicules can be coded in a very short period of time. The smuggler revamp is not something they will be able to get out in just a matter of weeks.
People seem to think that revamps and some bug fixes happen in just seconds and all the Devs have to do is click their fingers.

Thank you for replying to that so nicely, because if no one had replied I probably wouldn't have been nice to start off with.
To the original poster: Get this in your head.
SOE has multiple development teams. Certain teams work on content, certain teams work on bugs, certain teams work on revamps.
They do NOT ALL FOCUS EVERY BIT OF EFFORT ON THE SAME THING.
Seriously... "thanks for ruining my day" attitude should just be thrown out the window. I've been waiting for a smuggler revamp since I became one back in september of 03 when they said we were the most needed profession for a revamp.
Since there have been numerous other revamps including two for jedi, a pvp bounty system for jedi, something with chefs, and 2 expansions.
All of which came out on time.
COnsider another post back that stated that the dev team is split on may projects. Also consider the amount of time this revamp was supposedly worked on.
There should be something to show for or even tell us about. All we get instead are new vehichles. Woo hoo, its not like swoops were a problem anyway.
Slicing is messed up, for some reason my faction discount for master smuggler is bugged, and there is no smuggling. These seem bigger issues than having a slow landspeeder
have multiple passangers. If the rider could do a drive-by, that would rule and it could be fun. instead its just going to be some more crap and even more waiting for the prof to be fixed. I have only been a smuggler about 8 months, but I do think its time we have a chance in the spotlight.

Again you seem to think that all the Devs need is a magic wand and the revamp will be here. Newsflash Bub this is a Game, NOT Harry Potter.

the whole point is that if there are multiple teams,
and that they have infact been working on this for awhile,
then there should be something to show for it.
Explain how 2 expansions, and all of the other revamps could have been done within 2 years, and theres nothing
on the smuggler revamp out at all? I cannot fathom how a new planet and a space system ( each with their own nuances and systems) could
take less time than a revamp.

Because they had the expansions planned out before launch.
They just hired like 7-10 new developers a few months back, that is why we are seeing alot more fixes and content showing up.
The expansion teams are compiled of people from nearly everyteam that SOE has.
GreenMarine, the developer assigned to our revamp, was taken away to help with JTLS and assumingly the same with ROTW.
I'm sorry but postponing all content in a game for a few months to work on a revamp for one profession is bad policy.
Smuggler as a profession is not a necessity for game play for the whole community. Chef on the other hand turned out to be a major necessity. The other revamps that took place instead of ours were necessities. Jedi was the running force behind alot of people who played SWG. Of course the teams were going to focus on them and their content to appeal the huge masses.
A hundred or so people on each server who play smuggler does not equal the one jedi out of seven players current on flurry.
I also do not think the amount of time that you waited ( probobly 10 months more than me ) matters, nor does the amount of time either of us has played mmo games( I have started on ultima when it came out and have played almost all since), We both pay to play the same game. All of us here want the same thing in the end( smuggle revamp). my problem is that I feel lied to and cheated. I am a ms, mp, 0040 bh. before the upgrade i was the triple mastery. I seriously spend nights trying to find something to do. I dont want to be a BH, I dont want to be a Jedi, so the game is essentialy without a goal for me anymore. If I go overt I get ganked by jedi. All of my friends hunt jedi.
Kashykk was fun until 2 of my quests are permanantly bugged. Everytime I log into the forums its always Jedi-BH arguing over our specials and since the jedi community is soon going to be everyone, I keep thinking ill be back to useless when the next patch comes. I have sliced a set of armour and it made it worse off than an unsliced set.
So slicing ( one of our things) is messed up. I have the underworld tree and do not get faction discounts anymore. So yeah I do think it is about time for the Devs to say something. I never asked for a magic wand, and neither have the people you reply to all over. I ask for results and an explination of whats going on, which is entirely fair

Umm ok if u say so, but spice demand post CU is huge. I can barely keep up with demand running 4 food factories. Chef's r hardly selling.
As far as the revamp. There are several things to take into consideration.
1.CU changes whatever was done prior too it. SOE seems to be leaning towards a more universal code with a different skin for their games. This will make updates/revamps/expansions easier in the future as all the programmers/DEV's will b more universal for setting up teams for the different games. Downside is that their games will all pretty much function the same way.
2.I would rather wait another few months and have it done right then spend the next year+ fixing the revamp.
3.There are some basic issues that take priority over any revamp. I don't know how long the multi-passenger speeders have been in development but its going to happen (hopefully with minimal bugs)
4.Priorty to support the base. I don't know how many smugglers there are across the servers but I doubt its a top 10 profession even with the respec. Not to say smugglers aren't important and don't need some love, just that companies tend to follow the dollars and if there are more pressing issues/bugs that affect the game that a revamp will get pushed to have those addressed.

ROFLMAF
yeah Kebron, they have a 'magic wand', it's called the 'Soon Wand' (TM) and they waved it for the first time right around your forum registration date. We've been waiting around two years for the 'magic' to coalesce into content. *snore*
I mean, there may well be 1 out of 7 players on Flurry with a Jedi right now, but there sure weren't during either of their revamps. Besides, a profession's only as important as you decide to make it.
In any event, if the reason behind it taking so long is because we're just one profession out of thirty and it's for the good of the game that we wait, the continual promises that have come and gone give any long-term smuggler the right to be angry. Obviously other problems and priorities have come up and always do in MMOs, but you'd think the profession that "need[ed] the most love" in September of 2003 would have received some by now.
