Thread: does this worry anyone else?

I feel he shows little respect to his customers and I really believe he feels superior to us. It shows in his smart ass responses to legitimate questions. Responses that have spread throughout the Dev team as well.I sincerely hope that this will lead to new and better things, as well as an even better job of making this game more and more like Star Wars. You never know... this could be paving way for someone from LA to jump in and steer the ship for awhile (which I really wouldn't mind). I only say this because of all the rumors flying around at the end of last year.In the end, I say good luck to him, and I hope that the change will lead to better things for the game.Message Edited by SmugglinZane on 03-17-2005 10:35 PM
I don't know - given the very dry games that LA has been making lately and the painfully conservative decisions (fare thee well Sam, Max and ... uhm... Full Throttle Guy) I would be worried about someone from that organization taking on a bigger role in SWG.
meh, I thought Battlefront was pretty good, I hear Republic Commando is good, and then you have games like the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games, not to mention KOTOR 1 & 2. the revenge of the sith game also looks good. LA had a hand in the development of all of those, so maybe they could do something good with this game as well.

Couldn't be said better. I believe him moving on is a good sign that all is well.
Yip!

Fixed for accuracy, they didn't actually make those games, only released them under the LA label.

Full Throttle Guy's name is Ben
And I believe LA stopped caring about their longtime fans somwhere between 1998 and 1999. That should be the approximate date for that occurrence. I also believe that's about the time when the old adventure gaming team left to form their own company, but I could be mistaken.

As one who saw a fundamental improvement in all matters once Tyrant came aboard, I'm certainly saddened by his leaving. He was very direct with many of the correspondents and he had our instant respect at the summit. I attribute many of the possitive changes we are now seeing to his influence.
While I never had the pleasure of meeting Gordon, I worked with him a bit during the TSO beta. He got my respect back then.
I agree with you, Caylin -- I saw fundamental improvement in many things here once he was on board. And although the dumbing down of the graphics occurred while he was here (a personal pet peeve), there were many more positive things that happened. His directness was refreshing as well.
Since he seems to be a firefighter at this point in his career, perhaps we can take heart and hope that he put some structure and processes in place that will allow SOE to continue developing at this improved pace.
I am sorry he is leaving (or has left!), too, and it would have been nice to hear from him about this here before reading it in a press interview.
