LA had a hand in the publishing of all of those, so maybe they could do something good with this game as well.

I don't know - given the very dry games that LA has been making lately and the painfully conservative decisions (fare thee well Sam, Max and ... uhm... Full Throttle Guy) I would be worried about someone from that organization taking on a bigger role in SWG.
Full Throttle Guy's name is Ben
And I believe LA stopped caring about their longtime fans somwhere between 1998 and 1999. That should be the approximate date for that occurrence. I also believe that's about the time when the old adventure gaming team left to form their own company, but I could be mistaken.
Ben! Ah yeah, that was it. I loved that game.
It seems as though a lot of the recent decisions regarding games (pushing out a sequal too soon - KOTOR 2 - creating derivative gameing experiences with Star War characters - Battlefront, Republic Commando - generic cash-in titles - the plethora of Episode I/II games) have been based on fiscal concerns rather then artistic ones. It's not to say that the games are bad, rather they're generally quite reasonable examples of tried-and-true genre mechanics. Coming from the "throw it outside! There's only strangers out there! -BOOM! -Oooh, do you think there was anybody on that bus? -No one we know or care about!" people, that stagnation is quite annoying.
It's almost as though Lucas Arts is waiting for an old-school gamer to bust his way out of a dumpster and set things right.... Anybody have any bunnies?
