Thread: Something to justify the unarmed pre-req

Bad ideas, each of them. The reason why Brawler is a pre-req is that a smuggler should be a rough kind of guy, one who fights a lot, and one who probably has a beard. They also would be pistol-toting. I hope that answers your question.

We already have an advantage, of sorts.



Smugglers are designed to flee, hence ConcShot, RestrainingShot etc


The UA tree gives us unarmed mods which kick in when not equipping weapons. When fleeing, the first thing you do is unequip your weapons to reduce the weapon hindrence, so a fleeing, weaponlessSmuggerwill have better Ranged/Melee defences than a ranged non-Smuggler



It's clutching at straws, perhaps, but it makes sense to me

Never bring your fists to a gunfight. But i guess it would be hard to hold the gun if you did leave em at home.

In some situations, you're just too close to your opponent for a gun to help. Slug 'em in the gut, do a double-fisted slam where thier neck meets thier back, then while they're on the floor, shoot them, a lot. What I would like to see is a couple dirty melee attacks in the Smuggler profession. Perhaps /throwdust, which blinds the opponent while simultaniously delaying an attack for a very short time; and /suckerpunch, same basic thing as Reckless Shot, a chance at a lot of damage, but it leaves you very open for a few moments.

Best way I've heard it explained yet, pocket your weapon and run with /center. I alwase thought the unarmed tree was MENT to be there anyway, but this just gives me another idea as to what good it'll do me.

Maybe the Smuggler Skill set could give us a CoB improvement that would let us use it while moving. That along with letting Smugglers, and I mean just MasterSmugglers, use CoB with a ranged weapon equiped. We use pistols, which means we are up close and personal, a better defense would be nice for a change since our attacks are gong to be limited to running away.

your looking at the pre requisites all wrong, they arent roots that when watered will grow into advanced skills they are simply a roleplaying tool to say what sort of back ground a certain template would likely have had.



A smuggler would likely have had a childhood wherein he or she would have learned to fight at least well enough to to hold his/her own against another thug, and probably well enough to kick the crap out of a regular citizen, unarmed 4 fills that bill perfectly! In a fist fight against anybody but a TKA your gona be close to evenly matched or have an advantage.

Unless you go TKA or Fencer with Smuggler the Unarmed Brawler lineis wasting15 skill points where as other more powerfull professions with working specials that aren't getting a nerf bat up the wazoo (sideways) spend only an additional 14 points as opposed to 29 to get novice elite. Smuggler, Commando, Bounty Hunter, Combat Medic, Bio Engineer, Squad Leader and Ranger all take more SP's to get novice than other real (ie: Non Jedi) professions to get started. Of those Smuggler,Commando,and Ranger deserve somelove.


Not just Beer, Pie, Flame Throwers, and Pop Tarts.......


Bounty Hunters get their Jedi hunting andSmuggler SpecialNerfing ways right after Jedi

Combat Medics, I dunno, they look to be doing well for themselves (IMHO)

Bio-Engineers, you guys need a lot of help with your crafting at the moment I know.

Squad Leaders, Are there any left?

yes I agree and for 2 years I've been role playing the role of a smuggler beacuse thats allone can do. "Sign" my "petition" for answers in my thread titled "where did it go" keep it rolling and play nice and maybe they will see it and deem us worthy of thier time for a lil basic comunication.
