Thread: Did anyone else see...

Did anyone else see the message I had posted in the Pub 13.1 official thread in response to Tyrant's statement to watch the announcements for some Smuggler related stuff.

Cuz if you didn't see it then, you missed your chance, got on this morning to find that it was deleted.

All I had said was that Smugglers had been watching the announcements for something good for us since August of '03 and that we're sick of these empty statements. Oh, and I posted a link to my post in the Movie quote thread telling him to "Show us the revamp."

I wonder who thought that was against forum rules and why.

You know this continued need to bend their own rules to justify deleting posts that do paint them in a wonderful light is geting a bit old. Would you mind emailing it to me so I can see what you said. I think I may start compiling a file of deleted posts and sending it to a magazine or something. I know it's their forums, but Jesus, they're starting to sensor anything bad that's said it seems to try and pull the wool over people's eyes. I'm sick of anything said in support of Smuggler's outside this channel deleted, like they're trying to isolate us even more.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I just realized that it looks like I had another post deleted their as well... one in which I responded to someone suggesting that "lots of smugglers would jump at the chance to smuggle you across a city and use one of their few remaining useful skills" useful skill my left foot! Like I said in that thread, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not going to "jump at the chance" to travel halfway around the galaxy holding someone's hand so they can avoid scans.

And yes, I'll try to recreate the exact post later.

Cool... I'll add it to what I've got already.

Depends on two very important factors:

1) How bored I am

2) How much they're paying.

I've happily done "house calls" for slicing requests if someone is willing to pay me extra for my time and travel. I do, however, see your point and would certainly not be willing to get in the habbit af dropping what I'm doing to babysit. As the cliche goes: I may be easy, but I ain't cheap.

That would be my post you were responding to. I suggested that the non combat artisans complaining about scans hire "Smugglers to smuggle you and your cargothrough hostile territory".

Did you notice the negative responses to your negative response to a fellow smuggler showing how to possibly get to make use of our ability to bypass scans?

I asked you if the price is right would you do it... you never responded.

100k? I'll take it and run someone through a city to avoid scans if I am not busy doing something else.

To some of the people replying to your statement, it made it look like you were saying it wouldn't be worth your time to smuggle someone through hostile territories. All of my smugglers in my guild love the idea as well as several I stay incontact with in game.

BTW I have no idea why that post was deleted... you said nothing against the forum policies. Guess they are being touchy.

That was the point. If they pay well enough, most of us would jump and run to do 10 mins worth of work for a good price and "smuggle someone".

Let me ask this open question. So there is a game mechanic that allows us to smuggle someone through areas.... and we complain? Tell me how good that looks.

No, I didn't see it because I've been busy the last couple of days.

Personally, my problem with the way they have our so called "smuggling" ability implemented is that it doesn't require us to do a single thing other than /invite and /follow. Give me a crate of illegal stuff and somewhere to take it. Make it challenging in one way or another. But don't tell me that holding someones hand is as intense as smuggling is going to get in this game.

There's nothing like you describe that I've seen. I keep getting attacked by enemy faction NPCs as I walk through/enter/leave towns. Since I can't even sneak past alone, there isn't much chance of being able to sneak anyone else through. Wasn't able to test this extensively, but I did have someone I was grouped with attacked by NPCs as well. It wasn't a clean test, but it confirmed my suspicions.

Ok... They didn't take my contraband, but they attacked. Not something someone will pay me 100k+ for.

Exactly, the only way that smuggling is going to ever become a valid way of making money is if it becomes impossible to move contraband through starports without it. Anything else and no one will be willing to pay us enough to make it worth our time.

Also, you have to be "On Leave" in order to not get attacked, Smuggler or not.

Go on-leave, group the non-combatant crafter type, keep them within 35m... you have a 95% chance to evade the scan of opposing forces. That is what I was refering to. You are thinking of combatant status and trying to sneak past I think.
