They thawed me out . . . .

Well, I'm back. been gone since . . . publish 9 or so. So it's been a while. Been a smuggler from the get go, and honestly, I always enjoyed it. A class is what you make of it. I can't solo as well as I could, but I have been reading for days and see they redefined us as a crowd control class and I'm ok with it. BUT try as I might, I just haven't been able to find some answers to my questions. Please fellow Smugglers, if you would be kind enough to either answer my question or point me to where the answer lies I would appreciate it.. I have read all the forum stickies and a couple pages in, but still have these questions.

  1. How the heck do I up my BL (batte level I think? The number to the left of my name.) It was at 48 when I logged back in, I got it up to 49, then repspec'd to drop most of scout to master marksman and it dropped back down to 48.

  2. How do I slice? I don't mean HOW HOW, I know how to pick it, I have even sliced my new guns first level since I no longer have any useful tools aparently. But, I haven't found a page that really describes the mechanics of it. I'm mastered in it, and really have no idea what I am doing. Are there no more consumables? Are the literally 40 crates of AUK and WUK and clamps and other tools I have useless to me now? I saw someplace I could convert AUK or WUK into the new tools, but never saw how to do it.

  3. Armour, I'm just wearing clothes (cool clothes mind you) with lots of stat bonuses, but it's no armor. I see we wear "Reconnosance" (sp?) armour now. Should I just find a smith selling that stuff?

  4. JtL question, I'm imp, and finished the first tier in all space skills, and am certified for a standard Tie. yet I can't find any. IS there one? I think I saw one, but it was the most expensive ship I have seen so far. (Just a good guide for the JtL expansion is what I need here, not sure where to look)
Thanks in advance for the info from one smuggler to another.

Hello, Dansce.

I'm pretty sure most of those questions are answered in the stickies, but you said you read them, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and answer as best I can:

1. Battle Level (Called Clvl, or Character Level)is more-or-less determined by the number of combat-oriented skills you have. I'm not totally sure how it works, myself, but I do know that a person who has mastered one combat profession (a-la, smuggler) will only be level 54, whereas a dual-combat-mastery person (smuggler and BH, we'll say) will be level 80. Generally, the more Non-crafting, non-entertainer skills you have, the higher your Clvl will be.

2. Converting AUK's and WUK's is relatively simple. Pull one from the crate, and bring up it's radial menu in your inventory. There will be a 'salvage' option on it. Most of the time, from WUK's at least (I've never sliced armor..) you'll get simple toolkits. Occasionally, you'll pull a Finely Crafted toolkit, and very rarely you'll get an Illegal Core Booster or a Delicate Trigger Assembly. Look for threads on Smuggler Loot for information on how to find these normally. (EDIT: Try looking HERE)

3. Get some armor. Trust me. If you're a Master Smuggler, or close to it, talk to your Armorsmith about a decent high-quality set. If you want something fancy, or like to PvP, talk to your Armorsmith about some Faction Armor... Scout trooper or whatever rebels wear. Be warned: Armor in general isn't cheap, and Faction Armor is less so, but it IS worth it to wear the stuff.

4. My only advice to new JtL players, is find a good Shipwright and stick with them. It may be hard to find ships and components on your server's Bazaar, and knowing a shipwright that will help you with finding the right component, or who'll work with you to get that next Chassis, is a real help. You say you're Imperial: Get a TIE fighter, Heavy Varient. They have a LOT of mass (50k+) and are a real help to newer players, since they can mount some really heavy (and powerful) equipment. I used mine all the way until I could get an Interceptor. I know an Imperial Ace who PvP's in his in deep space.

That's all the help I can give. I hope I was any help at all. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, but DON'T FORGET TO READ THE STICKIES first.

/salute,

Shareena

EDIT: 1: Started typing before I saw the second post, and fixed some spelling and grammar errors, includinga sentence that was so long I forgot to end it. I type too much.

Thanks for the answers guys, I tihnk that covers everything. I kept reading the areas, but I'm not sure what you specifically said was stated that way there. Heck it might have been, but since I've been gone so long it just didn't make sense to me.

It's Combat Level, not character level. If it were character level, crafters wouldn't get killed by durni's.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

And in case you missed it, JFreeman told the Smuggler community that we will not be getting a revamp. Just some changes here and there. Apparently they don't have the resources to do a profession revamp for any other profession, with the exception of Jedi of course. They apparently had enough resources to give the Jedi a revamp, just not any other professions. Which my just piss everyone off (with the exception of Jedi) after this month.

There's a trouble brewin!

Then what are they getting?

I've been gone a while, a link is fine.
I just want to know if I'll be leaving after my paid month is over.

Bug fixes. Heh! Smuggling. Heh! A Jedi craves not these things.

My SWG Observations

If they stopped the expansions for one year and gave quality revamps to the professions that need it most, many people would resubscribe.
With all the resubs, and the new players, there would then be plenty of money to hire enough people to do 2-4 quality revamps per year plus 1-2 larger expansions per year and/or 2-4 smaller expansions per year, and not give the BigWigs a pay cut. (Possibly even an increase)

I've been warned to keep my head down for the next couple of weeks. doesn't really matter to me because the light at the end of the tunnel is the end of my subscription.

I've never been interested in playing KOTOR on-line.
