Thread: So um... where's the ship stuff in the new slicing system.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new slicing system was supposed to have something in it having to do with ships.

I remember Tiggs talking about Han modifying the Falcon when she mentioned it.

Not trying to start anything here, and it's nothing against Tiggs, I just want to know if that's been tossed out the window now.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I don't remember this being said, about having ships with something to do with slicing. I do remember smuggling missions requiring ships for space (which doesn't sound that great), but that's it...

As a Smuggler, I feel we should usually be found in a ship... smuggling, hiding, slicing, whatever. Ships (especially POB ships) should have a major role in being a Smuggler. But I doubt we'll ever get anything to give ships a bigger role in being a Smuggler.

I think they're just getting started. They don't even have the slicing tools they talked about nor the mini-game.

What we are getting (hopefully) is a slicing system that works again.

Better that they give us one piece at a time rather than saving it all up for a year till they complete every detail.

From the launch of JTL they never intended to allow ship parts to be sliced. I don't think they're gonna start now.

Ship modification really isn't a Smuggler skill, anyway.

Oh? Why don't you tell that to Han Solo. Apparently he's been messing with the Falcon without knowing what he's been doing all this time!

Unfortunately none of the threads regarding the new stuff are even around anymore so I can't directly reference where it was said. It wasn't anything specific like what was proposed for a new slicing system, but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that they were trying to find a place in the system for Smugglers and MP ships.

To the gentleman who said modifying ships isn't Smuggler business, I disagree. Upgrading weapons could be said to be something for weaponsmiths and the same with armor and armorsmiths. We're talking ILLEGAL modifications though. That is a Smuggler's business, especially when it's his own ships he's using to outrun or break through blockades.

Not just with Han either. All Smugglers had a tendancy to "modify" their equipment. Heck, they got together and helped each other with it in some cases.

This isn't the smuggler revamp.

It's only a weapon/armor slicing change.

This isn't the end of the smuggler changes.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

sorry to inform you, but this IS the "minigame"

They dropped the tools, they dropped the interface, they dropped the game.

Nothing more for slicing

That's what they said at launch... HOWEVER, very recently, Tiggs mentioned in a HoC chat (I believe), amongst other places, that they were planning on letting Smuggler modify CERTAIN ships parts, most specifically, POB ship parts.

Well its nice to finally hear some facts from a dev on the matter instead of the usual player speculation. Oh wait...

Except they've been saving it up for 2 years and this is what they've got for us.

LOL, I don't want to get into "What's Han Solo's Template." I look at it this way, we can put whatever parts or engines into our ship chassis, these are the modifications Han was talking about. Plus any fool with a repair kit can make repairs on a multi-passanger ship, so why would either of these bepigeonholed as"Smuggler".

Also this is just a game based on some movies.

The difference being that this is something, whereas for the last two years it has been nothing. Even if its just a thrown bone I'll take something over nothing.
