Thread: Feign Death...

I always heard that when using this skill it made it LOOK LIKE you took a highi amount of damage and got incapped...

However, after testing this today, it seems that you actually take like 2-3 times (or more!) the damage when using feign death...

I took about 1200 damage from a creature today when i used feign death... that same creature was only hitting me for 200-400 damage normally... this caused me to actually get incapped for real, when normally i wouldnt have.

I tested it twice more and twice i got hit for 1000+ damage to my head and got incapped when trying to feign death (again, creature only hits for 200-400 usually)

So I tested it with a friend... he was punching me (no weapon no skill) and hitting for 0-40 or so damage a hit... i used feign death and it worked but i suffered about 250 health damage that was REAL... i actually lost the health...

whats the deal?

i was really excited about this skill but it seems as though the ONLY thing its good for is GETTING YOU KILLED!

Why use feign death to avoid getting shot a few times when it automatically does enough damage as 4-5 shots from an enemy would do... its like a suicide...

Heres what I found. Witches on Dath hit pretty hard. I only have 1200 hp. They argo me I stop running and hit feign. They jack me for 1600 health or whatever. The feign works and I collapse. So basically its a get out of jail free card just gives you more down time. As for pvp apparently it doesnt work on players from what Ive tried. So that 1600 health shot doesnt kill you just removes all your health from your bar like your dead. Then they leave you alone get up spam peace and run the other way healing heh.

err ya it does work on players, i do it all the time when i don't want to get a deathblow... they can attack you when you start regaining health and sometimes you get some pretty nasty wounds... but hey it's better than getting a deathblow or losing faction. if people say it's cheap.. just tell them that is why it is called dirty fighting.

Feign death gets better the higher you go up the dirty fighting tree, although if something hits like a truck to begin with you're still going to get hit hard. It can be used in pvp. It makes it so that your enemy cannot deathblow you. They can still beat the crap out of you and wound you, but if you really wanted to you could just sit there letting them waste their time and take full wounds to every stat pool. Frankly I'd just rather let them have the half faction points they get for killing me. I suppose if you're a creature handler or have an at-st or something you can tell it to attack and then just feign forcing them to fight it. It could be useful, but odds are they'd just spam knockdown on your pet and kill/incap it.

Im not sure if anyone else has asked this before, but I need to know is there anyways to incap someone if they are in the Feign Death state, or break the Feign Death state by a posture up attack or any kind of attack?

Thanks

There's absolutely no way to do any of those things. In fact, I don't even know what Feign Death is. It sounds like you are on a bad spice trip. Perhaps I can recommend some of my own uncut Neutron Pixie: all the awesome hallucinations, none of the toxic chemicals that derange you into thinking there's such a thing as Feign Death and also turn your liver into a purple, rock-like slab.

No way to get them up or to incap them. They can also invite people to group with them while using FDso they can get a GTEF on you.

They do still take damage while using FD. I have heard a TK can attack them and cause wounds while they are in the FD state. I have not seen this myself though.

There's something weird about your posting style Cymreig, I just can't put my finger on it right now.

And yes, you're fully attackable, which invites the friendly enemy faction member standing next to you to paint your bars completely black and turn your armor into dust.

It's not IF I can do it, it's HOW MUCH you're willing to pay.

How do you mean Kyrain? The triple post was some sort of technical glitch and the comment was tongue in cheek.

Meaning dont tell people they can get us up because it's bad enough that they black bar us.

Let's clear up this issue once and for all.

1. While it is possible to target and attack a smuggler that is FD, it is a grief, and if the smuggler is smart, he will go to the chat forum, get a CSR on the server ASAP to stop you.

2. Posture up attacks do NOT work...sorry, it has been tested over and over and over and over again....it doesn't work.

3.Black barring is a grief, and falls in to the same catagory as #1

4. Destroying armor is a grief, and falls in to the same catagory as #1

5. Combat medics hitting us with an area attack while targeting other live hostile players is not a grief, butCombat medics hitting us to black bar is a grief, and falls under #1 and #3.

FD is a skill that we get to save our butts in combat...don't like it? Mad that someone else used it while in combat with you? Then get it yourself and get over it. It's a small diamond in a messed up profession called "Smuggler".

They nerfed panic shot

They nerfed crates

They nerfed spices

They made us take Unarmed 4 and didn't give us anything for it

They gave us a pistol line with 2 useful specials, 1 is on a 30 second timer, and the other has such a long delay that it might as well be.

They gave us no mods to that pistol line

They gave us an empty master box

They said they would fix us over a year ago

and you want to get mad because we can use FD, and feel you are justified in griefing us? GET IN LINE! SOE was here first!

What would we be left with without FD? the ability to "read" lekku...from behind us no less? OMG, they will nerf that next I bet!

Sorry smugglers, just been playing for a long time, and ohhh so tired of the griefers that find it funny to make our one good special a joke. Those jerks need to be banned on sight...take your pick on which ones.
