When I don't feel like killing anything I'll go to Coronet and put my spam macro on and let the credits roll in. Do you slice in public places and advertise? If so, where?

I slice in public places, but prefer to let people come to me. I just leave my master tag up while getting buffs and what not and that usually suffices. I never macro/spam as that really irratates me when others do it as it really messes upmy immersion factor.

I know I'm a hypocrite, especially since I addignore most spammers, but oh well. I don't mind if they ignore me.
Besides, I roleplay most other places, just not in starports....especially Coronet.

I usualy only slice for free to members of my guild. My guild members recommend me for slicing to other people so I get a few slicing requests that way. I make a fair amount of money from selling clamps, WUKs and AUKs so don't actively slice in public places.

I used to wander around with my "Master Smuggler" title when I needed the money, and slice but never really advertised the fact. It never took long for someone to say "Can you slice something for me?" But I soon got sick of logging in and being bombarded with 4 or 5 tells asking for slices, so I changed my title and I only slice for PA members and friends now. I don't need the money anymore anyway.

I wear my master smuggler title cause I'm proud of it.
never slice under 50 items, as said in another post.
I'm tired of getting paid 2k/3k whatever price, to get insulted cause I landed 16% speed slice on some scythe or high end expensive weapon.
I do MUCH more money, getting my own scythes, slicing em and sell em pre sliced in my vendors for at least 100k benefit/weapon, and I'm still 200k cheaper that most of shop in my server.
watch the money roll in uh ? run your shop and u wouldn't even have to watch the money roll in, 2 days ago, I logged in with 3M more in my account, just advertise right and manage to get loot made stuff.
no more whining, no more people pissed off cause they get their 500k worth thingy screwed, more profit, u can actually play the game or do whatever you like when other people buy from you.
etc..etc... I like hanging out in ID salons watching my mailbox filling in with "vendor item purchased" mails... (damn I delete em so fast, not even sure bout the title)

I slice for people (5k per slice). However, I do not spam (it is illegal, you know), and though I wear my Master Smuggler tag, I'm not searchable (no criminals advertising in the phone book). People have to find me if they want a slice, but if I wander into a starport area, I start getting tells for slicing pretty quick.
I even got a number of tells for slicing last night despite the spamming Master Smuggler yelling "Tired of getting ripped off for high-priced slices? I slice everything for 100cr/%." The customer had to wait for me to finish another guy's stuff, and I charged him 5k as usual. He was happy to get the 32% damage slice on his Scythe, too.

I slice commercially, but usually by word-of-mouth trade. Never advertised, never spammed, not even while working towards master. I slice free for guildies, and don't want for regular customers either. I guess it's different for everybody.

Ya i use to spam but i don't anymore, the Master Tag does the spamming for me. Slicing is part of my job so I don't try and hide it. I'f i'm not buffed/hunting I'll stop and slice for anyone. I slice at 7k a weapon and 50k a suit of armor 60k a suit of composite or better.
If they gripe about my price I stick to my price. if they don't complain and they have multiple slices then I slice them a deal. For my guild I slice for tip only no set prices.
Slicing is a sore subject though. If Other Smugglers were not trying to undercut the next Smuggler we could be rolling in the dough like the DOC's are. On Corbantis they are up to 20k a buff now.
Thats a 3 hour buff. Our slices are good for days/weeks.

Perhaps I am some sort of total nutter - but I actually enjoy slicing stuff. Find myself, like my client, waiting with bated breath of "what's it gonna be!" So do wear the tag (unless trying to move fast and catch shuttles...) and make sure I am searchable.
Have been know to stand in Coronet - have a button on my quick bar but only hit it manually from time to time (rather than on a /pause 30 or whatever) and only to ensure people can see they need to do /examine on me to see prices and terms, as constantly explaining the same bloody thing over and over gets a little tired.
Besides, some people still do a bit of RP so banter can be fun, throw in some emotes and some blarney and actually interact with other players.

I dont slice for the public anymore, only friends and 1 weaponsmith, who has become a friend(but he still pays me). I alwasy wear my master smuggler tag because I too am proud of it. When someone asks me to slice their stuff I say" And risk getting sent to the Kessel vacation villa? Its not worth it" Its kinda funny. Sometimes.

I don't slice for profit anymore, it just isn't efficient enough to justify the time and effort. 10 minutes of solo-grouping on Dantooine can net 40-50k credits, whereas in 10 minutes of slicing, most of that is time wasted educating customers on how to use their trade windows, explaining that I can't pick slices and picking my way through tell-hell. No thanks!
For now, I exclusively slice for friends and guildies at no cost. Everyone else is on their own.

I totally agree. Maybe if slicing actually was worth a decent amount of money (which it is not) I would consider it. But I can just run solo missions and make 10 times more money. I also got so sick of jackasses freaking about about a bad slice. As we all know, bad slices happen from time to time but everyone seems to think that it should never happen to them. Maybe if the percent range were better or it was more profitable I would consider it. But for now I avoid my Master Smuggler tag like the plague.

I used to sit around starports and slice... still run about with my title hanging out if I'm in the mood. But the money isn't great and I make more selling slicing supplies. I now rarely slice commercially but have several good regular customers who only ever come to me, pay my travel to get to them and pay well over the odds for a good, reliable, honest slicer. (one of them once got ripped for 5mills worth of kit and didn't trust another slicer till he found me). These regulars are turning into friends who'll then recommend me to their friends. Average week I probablypull in250K from regular customers. And cos they know me and trust me then they'll wait if I'm busy or come to me if needs be. I also have a WS or 2 who comes to me for bulk slicing occasionally - what I'd like is 2 or 3 of them needing 100-150 slices a week.
