Thread: Any triple masters going for FS?

So, assuming Pub 10 goes live on schedule I might be short one mastery come this time tomorrow. Assuming you're willing to drop ranged support 1, you only get 4 points to throw at the FS thing... meaning you'd have to surrender one mastery, one fullbranch of 4 boxes, and 3 in another.

I really don't want to be a Jedi, or even FS. I do want that second character slot though.

What I'm wondering is if any other triple masters are planning on going for FS. What do you plan to drop for it? Do you intend to move on to playing as a Jedi or are you looking to unlock #2 then come back to the triple master template?

I'm doing it for the second character. I'll probably be dropping some TK, since pistol xp is a pain.

Yeah, I'll be doing it.

Took some real hard thinking and some tough decisions, though. What I've decided is to initially drop Pistoleer skills (though I see my Smuggler as more a pistol-using type than a brawler type) to get the FS skills needed to open the second slot (this has pros and cons, depending on what you want), and then most likely dropping them to get my Triple Mastery back.

Now let's face it. It's much easier and quicker to get XP as a TKM than as a Master Pistoleer. So the XP grind will be done quicker as a TKM. Of course, this means it will take longer to get Master Pistoleer back once I'm done with FS. Since I want to get through the horrible XP grind as quickly as possible and I'm not so worried about getting the mastery back as quickly, this is the route I'm planning to take.

If you want it to be easier getting the Triple Mastery back and don't care how long it takes to finish the FS XP grind, you can drop TK skills and keep the Pistoleer ones.

My FS skill plan depends on the "fairness" of the partial profession grind credit that is given. If I get an unlock (which I feel I should) I will get the Persuasion line, and the rest will be Melee Defense, Ranged Defense, Ranged Accuracy, Ranged Speed, Vehicular Control. If I do not, no Persuasion for me, as the Slicing XP ratio is horrible and I don't have the needed profession to even do the quest to unlock it unless they change that. In that case, I'll get Melee Speed.

There is a slight chance if I get the Persuasion line, I may keep the FS skills, grind Pistoleer back up and give up TKA skills to get them. That's to be decided upon later.

As for the second character, I'm back through it all again to make a Jedi, as I refuse to ruin RP by making my Smuggler into a Jedi when he's supposed to be a Smuggler, and I always had a plan for a second character Jedi, since that's what they originally said it would be.

Anyway, that's my plan.

I was Triple Master for awhile but a few months ago I dropped pistoleer in order to try out some other things. Right now I have some medic and some scout just as extra skills. I will drop those to get the FS boxes and then still have enough to play around with Jedi a little. I RP a smuggler "reformed" through the ways of the TKA and Rebellion though unless I really like Jedi I will probably just get the FS boxes and as many Jedi boxes as can fit while keeping TKM and M Smug, if any(have not done the math).

Yep, that's the way I'm going. I'll likely drop some TKA, as stated, it's easier to level up.. a lot easier. I'll go that way until I get my alt and either stick with a bunch combat bonuses or just go back to tripple master.

With my alt, I'll probably try (if I can be bothered to go through the pistol grind again :/) Master Pistoleer, BH 0-0-4-0 and Fencer 3-0-4-0, until JtL's released when I'll turn it into a master shipwright/master ship engineer.

At least.. that's the plan

I'm doing it for the second character. I'll probably drop some pistol for now but I think once the 2nd slot opens I will be back to triple master. Anyone using the 2nd slot for a BH? I am because I would rather kill a jedi then play a jedi.

I am. I'll drop a little TK. I agree with the others -- pistol xp is a pain to get. Besides, I always enjoyed unarmed. Once I get a 2nd slot, I'll build the triple master back and try to take the new toon all the way to Jedi.

I love my pistols. Never dropping that. I am a Master Smuggler / Master Pistoleer / Master Marksman and i will be dropping marksman stuff to get throu this ordeal. All I want is my 2nd character and if some of the FS stuff looks nice I may keep it. By the time im done i think i will be Master Smuggler / Master Pistoleer / Brawler 4000 / Novice Medic / Marksman 0404 / then the rest in FS stuff. Im still not sure how this is working yet but im told i need to do some jedi stuff to get my second character which im makin a crafter. I distaste TK personally so I never went for TKM.

I'm not sure I understand.. Why would you need to give up skills? All I plan on doing is getting the old man to visit, then going to the village and picking up the ranged speed line when its available. Are you guys talking about going full blown jedi? Does the extra slot not unlock till you fill up all 24 boxes?

My understanding is that you will have to spend skill points on FS boxes to actually unlock the slot. After that, you can continue to Jedi or start with a fresh character that is not force sensitive. The new character will have to also do the quests to become force sensitive. The bottom line is that we will need to surrender some skills to get to the point where we can unlock the slot.

Don't take this as Gosple, but from what I've heard, you can't surrender the FS skills once you get them. I'm not going to open the second slot, untill I know for certain that I don't need to holdonto those damned skills, I don't want a second character that badly.

However, Since the specials inGunfighter are broken, and we don't get speed cap at Master, I may just lose it, andRanged Support 1 for the four skill points it'd take to get all of Persuasion, after all, Apprenticeship is easy to get.

That is correct. Once you learn those FS skills, you can't drop them.

And each FS skill box will take 1 skill point. So in order to become an Initiate to get to Padawan and unlock that second character slot, you're going to need 24 extra skill points.

As for the person above who said he was going to drop some marksman, yet keep Smuggler and Pistoleer.... You know you can't drop the pistol tree in Marksman and still keepSmuggler and PIstoleer, right?

Unless I totally read your message wrong. If so, please correct me.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

Sorry... could you clarify that a little? You mean you can't drop them at all (meaning they lack the surrender option of normal skills) or you can't drop them until after you're done with your 24 / trials / whatever else?

I made a TC2 toon to try all this out, but Jamilla never let me in the village, so I never had the chance to earn any skills.
