Thread: A Thought About Our Entertainer Friends
Seriously. The entertainer professions are being delegated into something that no longer needs anyone behind a computer to operate except to set them up and get them going. Please help my friends and all entertainers who actually want to actively entertain, plea to the devs to find ways of making it so that these characters have to be controled to a marginal extent to make them effective and usefull; and ask that they find a way to eradicate buff-bots.
Personally, my favorite method to remove the bot equation would be to make auto-AFK status five minutes for everyone, then disable buffs while the character giving them is in the AFK state, so even if macros remain looping, it just won't work, without the use of 3rd party programs, in which case, the player risks cancellation of the account and banning of the credit card number. And if all possible, I'd like to kick each and every single one of thier asses personally, but I doubt SOE would give me any addresses.
Lastly, I find it disheartening that the devs seem to wanna take professions which have great potential for role-play, and then make it so difficult to actually role-play with that profession, much less find an actual person behind the character. No, its not just disheartening, its bordering on malicious intent upon one's own customers.

I agree totally. As you can tell by my signature, my alternate character is an entertainer. No, she is not a bot and I have never given an AFK buff, not once. I have been looked at strangely for being a Smuggler and an Entertainer. I guess some people consider me a masochist, hehe.
But I agree, just as most everything else that has been passed down for Ents, Inspiriation Buffs are a wonderful concept. The problem is, they suffer from bad implementation. If you want to truly help the entertainment community, go to the In Concept thread about Insp. Buffs and post. Don't be negative, don't be mean, be constructive and give good feedback. Why will these work, why not? What can/should be changed to make them better? Etc.
Even if you don't post though, your support of Live Entertainment is appreciated.

gotcha!
okay, now onto the point:
I'm solidly behind the smugglers and have been for a while, I just got a new account recently and am making her into a BH/Smug/some-other-stuff. I love the fact that we oppressed and overlooked professions stick together rather than devolving into a 'my profession sucks worse than yours, so quit whining' mentality (see any number of posts on jedi/BH forums). The docs released for upcoming smuggler changes look really interesting and should add some exciting content and flexibility to the smugglers. As is the case with the new entertainer buffs, both are good concepts who's implementation should be careful studied and given feedback on, I hope to offer whatever I can for you all, but I don't have the long-suffering experience with smuggling so maybe it will be more of an 'outsiders view' for a while.
